Map Goes Crazy

dricketts

Trainz Luvr since 2004
Why is it 75% of the time when an AI train comes to a red signal it throws the map view into a complete tizzy for the session rendering it completely useless? The map view wants to fly in one direction all on its own. I know others have had to experience this though I've never read any complaints about it.

It would be nice if someone from NV3 chimes in here...

Which version?

Hi,

I dont have either of the versions you have, so I am sure I cant help you, but it might be usefull for others who do have any of the versions you have to tell in which version of the game you are experiencing this problem.

ya one thing i found never change commands or check a industry status in map view it goes off the radar happened more in 2006 and now 2010....

"off the radar". That's a good way to describe it. You loose all control of the map in map view. In game view still works as normal. I can even wait until the signal is clear and the small exclamation mark disappears over the driver face. Still the map is in wacko mode. Again I've seen this in 2004, 2009, 2010, and in all routes.

What causes this and how can one prevent it? NV3?

I get it now and again, I just put it down to a stuck key. Just done it, come out of map view and go back again and press the same key. Stops it.

Hmm, maybe just lucky, but I've never seen this.

The only thing I can think of is having a look at your trainzoptions.txt file and see if the resolution of your screen there is set to the values you set in the Options dialog from the splash screen. If not change them to your screen resolution settings and see if that helps.

It's an odd one, all my screen settings are the same. I'd never noticed it was only when an Ai was stopped at a signal before though.

I've never had this issue mentioned, but a map issue does occur in TS12. If you press M in Driver, you can see your consist fine the first time. Do this again later and you're still looking at the same location you did the first time.

The solution is to hit 2 for external view while still in the map. This will update the map to where your driver is currently located.
