Lost All My Routes

When I clicked on the Trainz22 shortcut yesterday, instead of opening Trainz I was asked to log in. It has never done this before. Once I logged in, the game opened but it was missing all but two routes! I was missing routes that had come with the the game, third party routes I had added, and routes I had created. I'm trying not to panic. I know I should have backed up the routes I was working on each day, but I failed to do so.
I checked the NV3 Games App folder and under backups I found folders that were dated from yesterday. So I assume the routes still exist.
I have two questions:
1. What happened? and,
2. How can I get the routes back?

Going to assume you are not running Trainz22z+ 1st thing..Backup the Data folder you have and put it somewhere where you can find it. Not in Trainz. Run Database Recovery.. if needed and only if needed an Extended DBR

just based on general software principles I would think your data is likely safe.

The routes are not in C:\Program Files\...

They are in C:\Users\jimlo\AppData\Local\N3V Games\trs22

Look in that dir for a dir named something like build bcs6jf111

I'm hoping you just need to repoint to this dir.

BUT DO THE BACKUP FIRST, if you can find the files to back them up.

Sorry to hear you're going through this.

Thanks so much for the advice. Actually I am running Trainz 22+. I hope this doesn't make a difference.

Not really unless your account expired and your coming back in which case you may need to use the official Helpdesk. Doubtful though. Try both of our suggestions above and we'll see what happens.

Did you have a crash?

This is a rarity these days but in the past with T:ANE and sometimes rarely with TRS19, if there was a major crash to the desktop, the program loses its link to its database, meaning your content.

What indicates this is that you had to log in again instead of just starting the program. What has occurred is TRS22 including PE and Plus, T:ANE and TRS19 too, will build an empty default database. This database contains nothing other than a few built in items, a few routes, and none of your data.

What you need to do is open up Windows File Explorer, if you are using the PC, and look at the location where you put your data-folder. By default, these go in Users/<your username>/App Data/N3V Games/TRS22/build xxxxxxx

Build xxxxxx is build, followed by some sequence of alphanumeric characters.

If you see more than one of these build xxxxxx folders, right-click and then pick properties to get the folder-size. The folder with the largest amount of data is the one you want.

Jot down the name of this folder because you will need this next.

Start Trainz...

At the Launcher.

Click on Trainz Settings
Click the Install tab

You will see the path where the data is located.

Click on the ... on the right side.

In the Explorer-like window, navigate to the folder you wrote down.
Highlight that folder
Click on Select.

PLUS will want to restart.

If all went well, when you check your login again under Trainz Settings Internet Tab, you'll see your login.

Since you had a crash, I would definitely run a database repair (DBR). At the Launcher, click on the Developer menu and then on Rebuild Database.
