To be honest, this is a last ditch effort to resurrect my interests in Trainz and as usual, it's not working. This forum is not the same place anymore. There was a time when folks would help each other out and there were many creators out there. It's not like that anymore. I create for the Trainz community, but when I ask for something that I need, I just hear those forum crickets chirping! If you don't believe me, see all the posts I made...then see how many of them where actually answered. I once made a funny comment that I felt like the Charlie Brown of these forums...this is actually becoming true. I seem to get the silent kick around.
I think it's soon time to move on to something else because what ever I liked about Trainz is just not there anymore.

You said it. I created a thread earlier to try and fill some new positions at my new site and after 66 views not one wiggle reply. I'm starting to lose interest in the forums with its quietness and lack of good quality content (not crappy reskins) around in the community. All I do is ask for some help to fill some positions and I gt the silent treatment. Really sad how selfish or uncaring some people on here are.

I've noticed that too. Many new posts I've created go on to the last page with hundreds of views but not even an acknowledgement. It's as though I'm an odd duck (which I am and I admit it), and no one wants to talk to me. The same thing seems to happen to threads too. It's as though I can stop a conversation as soon as I post, or in some cases have gotten my face chewed off for opening my mouth.

This all boils down to respect. An acknowledgement and thank you once in awhile goes a lot more than just ignoring a post. I've noticed that overall this seems to be lacking today in many areas as though these little things don't matter anymore.

Amen. Couldn't have said it better myself.

See what working a second shift gets me...I miss all the conversation! :(

Anyhow, I'm still needing info from the following people...
cascaderailroad
kenruof
jamesfaa
pencil42

What info you ask?
To all the folks that are joining this group--- PM with the following:
1.your username
2.your first name only
3.your email address
4.your specialty...content creator, repainter, layout designer, and so on. If you are a content creator, say what program you are using for your modeling. If you are joining to learn just put general interest down.
5.your current Trainz version

I have 15 people on the confirmed list at this time.

I pm'ed the last of the interested memebers and I updated the stats on the previous post. We are now 13 strong.

I do have a killer idea for this group but first I need to get everybody together and vote on our name.

"PS: it does occur to me that we already have one lady who has expressed interest in our group. Would it be a good idea to substitute the obviously male thumbs up guy with some other icon, a switchman's lantern perhaps, that wouldn't have a sexual or geographical bias? I think we want to cast our net wide, no?" Bernie
Bernie- thanks for thinking of me (and other females in the new group), but I just thought I'd say- I'm not personally offended by a 'male' logo, (although perhaps a lantern, or another RR symbol would indeed, include everyone, everywhere, and it is all about the railroad after all). I also totally agree with Jan's suggestions of using "Vintage" instead of Mid Century (VMA), and I think the 2nd 'TRAINZ' line is needed as well. And ...... IMHO.... the color could be a little redder and a little lighter for my taste, on Frogpipe's suggestion for a logo, as the rivets (which I just love) get a bit lost. My profession (before retirement), was photographer & graphic artist and I don't think I could have come up, and so quickly, with a better logo to work with. I thought the typeface (white is best) and the 'speed' lines Frogpipe used were spot on- and regardless of the name voted on, I do like Frogpipe's logo. Rebecca

I will say that I read that posting and was reminded of one of my first ones here. I posted some screen shots of a route I was working on, the M&Pa one, and after 44 views had no comments.

I made a similar reply on my own post "That bad huh?" or something similar and was similarly admonished for it. I learned my lesson and became more patient. Now if no one takes note I just shrug and move on.

It would be nice if the forums had some sort of "like" button, relieving the reader of the burden of having something to compose as a response while letting the poster receive some sort of acknowledgement that a reader, well, liked what they saw but there is no such feature on the forums.

In your case it's quite possible that the X number of viewers at the point you replied to your own thread were not people who could or would want to join a group and/or make content. There are a lot of players who don't.

I've learned that it takes a while to get noticed around here. I've pretty much have the same opinion...I just move on. I does get a bit ridiculous when post after post falls off the radar screen. My fix for all this is to find the people with similar interest and go from there.

One has to remember people only have a certain amount of spare time in a day, some more, some less. Many people have more then one activity they like to persue in their spare time too, some will therefore not visit or post/reply here that frequently. And finally others probably rather be busy with all the things trainz as a program has to offer then spending their limited time answering everything everytime here.

In other words 'patience is a virtue', over here and on many other occations as well. :hehe:

Greetings from cloudy Amsterdam,

Jan

I am one of those "viewers but not responders". In my 2 short months with Trainz and the forum, I have seen hundreds of posts & screenshots, but have not responded to that many. I am also wishing there were a 'thumbs up/like button, because I have barely enough time to read/see them all, let alone reply more often. I had hoped adding my 'view' to the list would show the posters how interested we all were in that topic/answer/question/solution/gripe. I do try however to thank anyone who patiently answers MY questions. As far as screenshots- almost every one of them is a delight and encourages me forward to create my own routes- please know I just luv 'em. If I never replied to a question /concern/problem you had, it's because I don't have that many answers yet. Maybe there are a lot of people like me, who either because of having too much 'life' (so not enough time), or just not enough knowledge, cannot reply to that many of the the posts. It was one of the reasons I was interested (and responded to) the formation of this new group. A way to connect and learn from the Trainz content creators/route builders, while concentrating on a general time frame that interests me as well. Just from reading this thread and joining this new group, I've learned a lot more about the 'game', about the people that 'play' TRAINZ, and how many different directions everyone's tracks & trains come from. I'm looking forward to seeing how I might contribute and where all those divergent tracks will eventually lead us. Rebecca

Perhaps instead of a 'Ignore this post' thread; some us should post a 'Ignore this Trainzer' thread.
I've been ignored so often, I actually get a bit concerned when I do get a response!

Still waiting on 3 people to return their info PM's.
The email list is just about complete...15 names total at this point. I'll be sending this list out to everybodyshortlyy.

On to other business...A NAME!

I know Bernie made a list of the names so far, so this will be everybody's last chance to add any new names to the list.
Post any new names you think of.

I'll stick with 'Vintage Modellers Association', it has a nice ring to it and completely covers everything implied, content and members. ;)

Greetings from nighttime Amsterdam,

Jan
