Lets talk: Trainz and Xbox (or on consoles in general)

The link in my post was actually from quoting @hiawathamr, so I do not have the source. I saw the video because I received a Trainz Newsletter email with link to the video
The video was on the N3V Games YouTube channel but it has now been changed to private rather than public viewing.

That didn't take them long to change it from public to private. I'm going to guess because of the feedback received that they might redo things. Lets hope that's the case anyway.

Cheers

True, XBox Gamepass is very popular among gamers and Microsoft is spending a lot of money to promote Gamepass to PC users and Handheld units. It definitely increases the exposure of Trainz. Unlike Steam where you have to buy a game to play it, Gamepass is more of an all you can eat buffet. Depending on the level of your Gamepass, you have access to a wide variety of games to play for one monthly fee. There is a chance that more people will try out Trainz in that situation.

Trainz on Xbox? Nah, unattendable. First of all, how would you make the controls?
There's more than that, surely?
Dovetail Games designed very good contoller mapping for the Train Sim World games, which I have played on Xbox One X with a controller, and now PC on mouse and keyboard. Of course Trainz uses slightly different controls but I could see it working. Also Xboxes do work with mice and keyboards so if you hate the controller you can play it just like the PC (assuming mouse/keyboard functions are still built in) anyway.

Cheers

Only problem with Game Pass is my cousin had it for years but Microsoft has been raising the prices every year. Eventually it got too expensive for him and he canceled it. Even the base Game Pass is $10/month now I believe, and that's just to access Xbox Live and a few games.

Cheers

I think the cheapest pass went up to $12 a month. But you're right, base level is not much. The next level is just short of $20 and the top level is close to $30. Only the top level offer the newest games. But with new games being $70 and there is talk that that is going up to $90 soon.

I also received the email and it seems to be getting serious with trainz on Xbox.

I'm looking forward to what's come. There are many simulation games that can be played with the console as well. Sometimes the controls may be different but still playable.

Let's see what happens.

I wanted to know if you plug in a keyboard & mouse, can you use Trainz on Xbox with all the keyboard bindings like on PC?

I don't think, that the missing keyboard on consoles is a problem. The real engenier doesn't work with a keyboard too. He has some buttons and switches. In more modern locos he can control the locos with the menues in the multi functional displays. The TSW version of the AC44 is a good example. Cutting in the brakes, control the multi unit stearings and the speed controls could all done about this interactive display. Same with the Cruise Control in the ACS64.
