layouts

Firstly I admire and thank all those who build layouts and upload them for us to enjoy, however I have one small gripe. I'm sure when they upload their work they would like it appreciated, downloaded and used by other trainz members but so many do not take the time to give a description of their layout which I think is a shame as it obviously gives a guide as what one can expect and not doing this probably leads to far fewer downloads.
So please take an extra 10 minutes to describe your work. I hope this post is taken in the positive and not the negative as that is not my objective.

Hi
I agree with you dzien50, this would at least give the potential downloader an idea of what to expect. I am personally hesitant to download a route when no information is given.
I am also very happy when a printable map of the route is included, as is the case with all of Trackplate's routes. Just wish other route builders would do the same.

I have to agree with y'all. Without a nice picture and a description, it's hard to get interested in a route.
What a lot of people do (and I as well) is to add their website to that description, and then have picutes, maps, descriptions etc etc on that site.
I realize that not everone have sites of their own, then the next best thing is to post the details on the forum like trackplate describes. Unfortunately it's not always easy to dig up that post if one is looking at an older route.

Is there a limit to how long a description can be?? It seems to me one needs to have as much description as possible right on the route, even if there is a website to go to, to be more "userfriendly".

Wouldn't it be nice if there was more "room" on the DLS to add pictures etc to at least routes? Of course I realize this is unrealistic, DLS must already be a huge chunk to host.

Let photobucket.com host the images and then all you have to do is add the links.
