Looking from Elizabeth port that has been updated to Lambertville across the ferry, need a dispatchers desk and chair for infront of the blue wall to the left next to Neshanic and the ng above it ghat i have not done yet.

I have an idea for a session that you can use if your route is on an island. First off, the staging yard is on the other end of the ferry's route that the island is on. Trains exit the staging yard and into a fully scenic, bustling harbor on the mainland, where the ferry is waiting. You must then load the cars onto the ferry and send it off to the island, where you use another locomotive to unload the ferry, make up a train with the cars from the ferry, and deliver the cars to their destination on the island. Once the cars are ready to be picked up, the locomotive picks up the cars and put them back on the ferry. The ferry then returns to the harbor where the other locomotive is waiting. This locomotive then unloads the cars, makes up a train, departs the harbor, and returns to the staging yard. Perhaps it would be even more interesting if the train on the mainland has to also switch some industries in the harbor along with loading cars onto the ferry.

Hello Tom, sir --

That door on the upper right side gives a great touch!

Great progress there, sir!!! :udrool:

Hi Tom,

Quite a project, sir ... wondering, how big is it going to be?

I've tried a couple, but they're not as bigt as I would like to see them! I've gone to show trains, and some of those railroad model tables are huge! --- It would cool to see something like that, just saying! :hehe:

Only thing I can say is have a look at the links of the plan near the start of the thread, it says it was originally 32' x 40' with a 10' x 20' extension that is used for a return loop, I'm thinking just portals at each end

You asked how big the layot is well this will give you a good idear, probly not as big as you thought but still a lot of work, been working on it slowly, roughened up some land between chimney top mine and calco that now hides Brucken Salvage from view and will be better once trees bushes and weeds added. Also smoothed the grade down to the industries, had lots of changes, now closer to the same all the way down, added a couple more buildings to Gundersen Lumber. Textured and added track and buildings to Neshanic and its mine. Black areas are outside the railroad room.

Does anyone know of a turntable with electric overhead, found a transfur table but only had 1 on track on oneside so had to modify layot but thats ok.

Martinville did not look right, the loop line should have had this big curve in it, have not worked out what goes in the space though, has been retextured since this photo

Sorry to slightly necro this thread...

Just came across quite an interesting prototype in Northern Germany where a narrow gauge system linked two parts of its network by train ferry (Wittower to Hahrhof on the closed part of the Rugen line). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rügensche_Bäderbahn

Did we establish if it is possible, in Trainz, to have a working ferry system where the player can drive their train onto the ferry, then either switch to the ferry and "drive" to the other pier (or have the AI drive you), dock and drive your train onto land and resume your journey on the other side? Preferably by assets from the DLS.

Otherwise you could just use a long bridge but the effect and novelty would be lost.

Look for Vulcan he has a ferry that works as a transfer table (turntable).

Hi.
My route { Modern Europe ] has operating ferries where you can
drive train on and sail to the other side you can also drive trucks
on to the ferry and drive them to a supermarket on the other side
Yes i know its big route and you will have many missing kuids you will
have to search for.
There will also be missing kuids that i will have to suply to you

For phill to finish how he likes

Layed all the track, is in ts12 but should inport with no problems, ferry and tracks in place, industries marked by track marks

Hi Tom,
It's coming together nicely, sir!;)

Ok need some big help ......
While waiting to see what happens with the tane update i have decied today to return to somerset traction in ts12.

Problem, i have tried a few times and after returning today deleted the overhead yet again and at this point really getting sick of it, tryed various options and have not liked any of them getting it to look the way i think it should look so i could run what we do have in train that was on the actual layot is a pain.

Really the main thing i buit it for was the working ferry system and that part of it is what really matters to me. Plus with the discussions about using other peoples plans if it was a taste of type layot it would not really be that bad.

Options :
1. Try to complete it as a electric traction layot (maybe looking to hard for me at my skill level) but willing to let anyone have a go if they want it this way.

2. Do it as a pre electric layot steam with maybe whats needed for early diesals, witcombs, phills box diesal, nyj 1000 i think it was called and any others you suggest i missed, they tried before traction introduced.

2a. With slow shunting speeds not a bad reason to run things like the standard gauge geared steam locos? Hielser, climax, shays and other small ones, there was a verticle boiler loco i think from steve, in this case maybe use all the old rollingstock?

3. Post electric, we all know that most of these types of lines had diesals replace electric in the end.

Only thing that i would need to change for option 2 is the transfur table with overhead on it but i spose it could be left for option 3?

Please post your suggestion and any i might of not thought of

Tom
