L&Y Stock

Learning... slowly!
Does anyone know of any Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway stock (pre-1923 grouping) available from Trainz ?
I'm particularly interested in 4-wheel coaches or their later Bogie coaches in the Dark Brown & Caramel livery as seen on some stock on the Worth Valley Railway, and suitable locos (I know the Aspinall 0-6-0ST and the L&Y Pug are available in BR Livery :) ) if they've been created.

Many thanks for any info.

I'm afraid that older passenger rolling stock, the mundane types especially, from before the introduction of the MK1's is in short supply in Trainz. One of the problems may be the availability of source material (dimensioned drawings, photos etc), if you have or know of such material for the L&Y stock you seek then you have a better chance of someone making them.

Thanks itareus. Thought it might be the case. I'll have a look into getting the drawings. Don't wanna be a gimme pig tho!

HMRS probably have them somewhere but coaches take a fair chunk of effort. I've seen some LMS coaches floating around but they were started about a year ago.

Okay, cheers John. I appreciate you explaining that - not being a content creator myself, I'd never dare ask someone to just make me something as I believe it shows a lack of respect, but it's useful to understand what's more complex to make so I don't accidentally sound like a gimme pig!

The research side takes about 30% of the effort. So if you can gather up the information such as photos, drawings etc that can make the difference as to whether someone will make it or not.

Hi

There are two books, "Historic Carriage Drawings vol 2 LMS and Costituents" by the late David Jenkinson which contains drawings of some LYR coaching stock and "Historic Carriage Drawings vol 3 Non-Passenger Coaching Stock" by Peter Tatlow which has some other drawings of LYR vehicles (both published by Pendragon). They are probably out of print now but come up on ebay fairly regularly.

Wild Swan have published "Lancashire & Yorkshire Wagons" volumes 1 and 2 by Noel Coates which I believe are still available new.

You could also try the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Society http://www.lyrs.org.uk/ who publish information about the railway company and also have a link on their website to a catalogue of information held by the NRM.

Regards

Brian
