Kentucky Coal Train Collision With UFO Disc

I actually find this story interesting. I don't know why everyone's getting all wriled up about it.

Many UFO sightings (at least by airline pilots) in the 1950's-1960's were actually U-2 Spy Planes (and their successors, the TR-1, which is still in service) flying high above them. remember, the average Airliner then (and now, for that matter) flew at 35-40'000 feet, and they were seeing a big silver "object" keeping speed with them at 70-90'000 feet. Not being in the "Above Top Secret" clearance loop, they had no idea there was a plane that had this capability. if you can't expain it, well; It was Unidentified, It was Flying, and It was an Object. The simplest definition of a UFO.

There are many things we don't know about aviation. Look at the U-2 and SR-71, for example. Much of the information about them is just now being declassified, and they still won't tell you about the D-7 drone that piggybacked on the SR-71. They say it never went into service, but, well, i have personal friends that say otherwise (My grandfather flew the -71).

Personally, judging from the minimal damage incurred by the engine (it's just a dent, for christ's sake, not a crushed cab) My best guess was some dumb rich joyrider out in his helicopter hovered too close to the tracks with his lights on, and guess what happens next.

Still, the mantra remains; to the crew, it was unidentified, it was airborne and flying, and it was an object. eirgo, it was a UFO.
