Can we stop the Union Pacific guessing game I mean I like the good old UP but it's starting to give me a Class One headache.

Wow guys, I'm building ATSF 3751 with the original Erecting Drawings.
How long has he been gone for?OH NO HE'S BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!!!!!! ( just kidding :hehe: )
This is something I decided to do since I just got his CN 2-6-0, here are some Strasburg photos I made, this was back in the mid 1980s so 475 doesn't appear, but I will do 475 in a photo booth eventually
First, Recently restored Canadian National 89 with PRR 1223
-screenshot removed-
Great Western 90 and PRR 7002
-screenshot removed-
and a photo of 89 herself
-screenshot removed-
Incase your wondering where I got 90, here is the link:http://cprlocomotiveworks.my-free.website/strasburg-90
Also the version of 89 I used if my favorite, the 1990s version is ok, the current and CN versions are eh
Pretty cool, IK they could try to restore 1223 and 7002 to working order, but it is currently unlikely as the Strasburg has spent the later years starting in 2014 restoring Long Island G5 4-6-0 #39.Nice shots!
I was taking some shots of the Strasburg V2 route (or my updated version of it anyway) today with 1223, 7002 and the late 80's-1990 version of Strasburg's 89.
Here's former PRR D16sb 1223 backing her 7-car train on the trip to Leaman Place Junction.
Here's a couple of shots of 89 coaling up for the day's run.
Finally here's former PRR E7s 8063 (aka 7002) being prepped for the day's trains.
Regards,
Mark

From what I heard it will be the only passenger purpose built steam engine working there, of course as we know, 89 did haul some passenger trains for Steamtown before Strasburg purchased the locomotive, and they would need to rebuild the firebox walls on 7002 and 1223, 7002 was once under steam while on display so... who knows what will happen
Actually Strasburg worked on the LIRR G5s 39's boiler a number of years ago (late 2000's I believe) until the LIRR museum ran out of funds for the work to continue. It was after that the Strasburg entered into an agreement to split the cost of restoration if they can lease the 39 for I think a minimum of 48 years. But the work won't resume on the engine until the LIRR museum finishes raising the one million dollars agreed upon or their share of the remaining restoration work.
Also I'm a little confused by what you meant by "7002 was once under steam while on display so..." 7002 (actually 8063) was restored to operation in 1983, prior to that she was on display, maybe that what you meant? If so, the same was true for 1223 which was in display at the East Strasburg Depot from 1960 to 1965 before being restored to operation. As for 7002, since she had never been run after a significant amount of reshopping in 1939, which included backdating to an earlier appearance, nor was she run when in 1948 she was renumbered 7002, so there was not a ton of work to do to restore her, I would assume that other than thickness of her boiler above the firebox (the same problem 1223, 1361 and LIRR 39 have) she's still in relatively good shape, as is 1223 and they could operate again in an agreement could be reached.
It's unlikely that either 1223 or 7002 would run again anytime soon based on the stance the administration of the Railroad Museum of PA has taken (preservation vs operation) which is understandable but heartbreaking to those who saw them operating in past years. In the end I'm grateful to have seen them in operation, but it saddens me a bit to see them sitting as a static display in the museum.
Well, you know what they say... Never say Never!
Since it seems that the NCTM owns the engine, they could possibly buy N&W 1218 and restore it, of course not alot of articulated steam engines operate at museums, 611 is mostly used for mainline duty altough
The angle numberboard is something alot of Canadian National steam engines used, along with the Grand Trunk Western, not all of them used it, one such example is 4-6-2 5629, which was sadly scrapped in the mid 1980sThere MIGHT be a 475 coming to projects list soon.
I always loved 89's appearance in the 90s. High headlight, center circle numberplate, decent gold trimming. I do like the CN look though. Their whole fleet had a very distinct uniform look with the angle number boards on top of the smokebox, almost makes it look annoyed.

I see what you mean, there is a group on Facebook called Fire Up N&W 1218, but i'm not sure how much facebook will promise us, there is a group planning on building a replica of N&W Y6b #2174, kinda like The T1 Trust with PRR 5550NCTM definitely doesn't own 611. They provided the facilities for the restoration back in 2014-2015, and they house the engine while it's fired up for trips down that way. The Virginia Museum of Transportation owns the 611 and 1218. NCTM didn't really have anything to do with the costs of restoring 611. The FireUp611 Campaign and NS's donation of $1,000,000 were the main driving forces of that. 1218 is in need of probably 3 to 4 times that in funds to even be considerably functional again, the boiler is empty, the firebox is empty, the running gear and wheels will need to be taken apart. It's not something that is economically worth it to only run it a few times a year. There is no official steam program anymore, so the 40 and 50 trips a year per steam engine just is never going to happen again. UP has the best steam program around and they barely run a dozen trips a year.
What happened to some of your projects from a while back like Reading 1187 (Strasburg 4) and the PRR Q2
Priorities.....priorities.....priorities.....
When I have a dozen people who have paid to have a commission built, I can't justify spending 2 months on the Q2 when paying customers are waiting for their job to be finished. I stopped working on 1187 4 years ago. It's not even worth working on what's already made, i'd be better off just starting again.
