ikr anyone care to explain why CN applied D/L's to their Cabooses? I can't imagine they run trains a great enough distance in reverse to necessitate them
I am just guessing, but maybe so that in hard weather out up north, the caboose crew could actually see what is behind them. Just a guess, I don't know anything about that part of the CN/BC so you might want to leave it to the experts.

I believe they aren't actually ditchlights but were used for track inspection? I'm not too sure on the actual purpose they serve.

i remember some railroads didnt have a run around at the EoL. so all they had to do was go in reverse. may need to do research on who owned the caboose before cn got it to be sure though. -inprr
