Well its been well over a year since the last time I posted..
It's sad to hear that we lost some good people due to the Aurans setbacks.
Well I still play trains 06 and enjoy creating new routes to run..Still have the same old problems that came with 06..lol...I see there are some of the older TRS people still around.Ahh the good ole days..
So whats the new version like..?
What bugs have been fixed.?

Till next time have fun

Welcome back. Trainz Classic is the new kid on the block, and there are mixed reviews of it. It requires today's graphic technology to run it and keep the computer product industries lucrative. TRS2006 appears to be losing PR points because of those problems you are encountering and an upgrade to TRS2004 is recommended. Other than that, same old same old. Cheers!

LOL..nope nothing has changed...Haveing Trainz from its very start its hard to fathom Auran would keep using the old code..

Welcome back mrmom, it's always great to see someone return after a break from Trainz. I had 6 months off last year as well :hehe: .

I am still using 2004 and so are many others. No doubt you will hear varying opinions of the current versions so I will let them tell you whats going on.

There are still a lot of the "old" Trainzers around - I think 2006 is good now I have progressed and perserved with it - I did not like it at first and went back to 2004 - been back with 2006 for a long time now and find everything - including CMP - working well.
Still learning about different techniques for building routes etc but then that is Trainz - always something new even after several years.
Good to see some of the earlier names still with us.

mrmom,

Welcome back, hope you start inputing again ?
Auran, same O', same O', different day, different version, different problems !
But now we lack the staff at Auran !
My thoughts if I were them, don't buy any green bananas for the office lunchroom ?

Hi MrMom.

Good to see you back.
Yes, some of us originals are still here from time to time.

I'm not around here much any more either.
At least not in the "involved" way I was for years.

Partly down to available time, and partly down to lack of enthusiasm for the current direction Trainz is taking.
If I see TC3 in a bargain bin somewhere after it's released then I might pick it up. That comment says it all really.

Still loving TRS2004 though! :D

Speak to you again next year. :hehe:

Smiley.

Welcome back, mrmom,

we're happy whichever version you decide to run, and it's nice that nowadays fans of the genre have such a choice.

As much as I liked some of the older versions, I have come to fully appreciate the work that has been done since, not having been involved in all of it; and I find myself craving features of later versions whenever I run a retro session. :hehe:

No doubt you will discover for yourself which version is closest to ideal for you.

Cheers!

It's like high school reunion in this thread! Welcome back, mrmom! Very glad to see some of the 'old timers' still hang around.

mrmum ...a name from the past there are a few of us OriginalyObsessedDiehardTrainzerz left lurking around here Good to see you back!! 04 still rulez Yet I dabble in 06 forget TC and await TC3

Good to have you back.

Unlike some other "old timers" I have TC installed and find that it runs better than either TRS 2004 or 2006. I followed the instructions from other Trainzers to transfer content from 2006 and find that everything seems to work better, even CMP seems to behave well.

I would agree with CASYJ that it does take some power and graphics capability to run.

Cheers

I installed a GeForce 6300 yesterday and am ready to put TC through it's paces.

Like mrmom, I too have been away for a while and am thinking of trying trs 2006. I was just wondering if the content I downloaded for trs 2004 will be able to be run on trs 2006? If not, would there be any way I could be able to convert these files?

Thanks for your time!!!

gambroe, Welcome back!

TRS2004 content will run in TRS2006, but there may be some error messages in CMP (Content Manager Plus), but these will be minor things that will not impact on the game.

Content wise, the only difference between TRS2004 and TRS2006 is that TRS2006 has stricter error-checking features.

HTH,
