Is this possible for switch levers and guide rails.

I was thinking about this on my way home from work. What else do we do when sitting in traffic - think about more fun things to do than just sitting there! lol.

We have separate switch levers and separate guide rails that we can stick into the tracks to make the turnout operate and to look realistic optionally.

Why not have integrated switch levers separated by an invisible area with attached guide rails?

This would make the installation of the guide rails so much easier than putting in and roating each one into place. With yards and cross-overs all over the place this becomes a real royal pain in the hands and fingers.

This may mean different sizes, or distances for the guide rails from the switch levers because there are different lengths of turnouts. This may also have the added advantage where this would ensure that the turnout levers are in the "right" place for each turnout.

Now I'm not a content developer, so I'm not sure if this is possible. As I said, I was thinking about this while sitting in traffice tonight on my way home from work.

The easy way around this is to use one of those yellow cubes that control several switches from one lever. I use them all over the place, and my yards with crossovers, turnouts etc. are fool proof. Only problem is that they are session dependant, and you have to set everything again if you lose the session: It took me two weeks of full time work to get it again working as it was last time... you get the idea..! You may say, save the session in a flash mem, but even that, some settings were lost.

I've done that before. Not a bad idea, but it would be nice to have the little guide-rail objects as part of the turn-out instead of as add-ons. They're cosmetic, but they sure look good. Just there are way too many turn-outs to fiddle around with, and when you add in a new one, you have to go and add another set. Besides if you add in a spline, they seem to zing off to the wild areas unknown to us along with other trackside objects! (I always wondered where this stuff goes because I've seen things like speed signs and signals fly off never to be found again!)

That's one of the things I hate about the sessions. You spend hours setting them up, then make a mistake when saving the session and lose everything. Particularly with TS2010 and the way the layers are setup.
