Is this forum abandoned by N3V as (official) communication channel?

Seems that N3V abandoned this forum as their official communication channel, managers&devs often visiting before were replaced by moderators&brooms&crg volunteers&desperados&flatterers, there is no subforum here in the "maintenance of way - support" section for TRS22 and even for TRS19 for example, there is no new roadmap mentioned here as I could check etc. etc. I feel clear shift from the enthusiasm, free creations and hobbyism, this game arised on, to totally different approach, N3V's steps during the passed years (TRS22 SP5 as last in the row) confirm, they are going to combat those elements uncompromisingly. Right now we, as users, players, content creators, are in the stage of being forced to total addiction on the monthly payments, subscriptions for game rent and event content rent, on the authorisation servers, which can be switch off right away by single finger snap making the game unusable, on the updates bringing intentional (?) "improvements" making previous content&routes non-functional. Don't You feel blackmailed a little in today's world? Whats Your opinions on that?

This is still the official forum for Trainz, the active N3v employees still read here.
Those that don't should maybe find another job :-)
A lot also happens on Discord there Zec, Paul, Laurence, Joe and pw3r are logged in daily
with atleast a weekly visit from Tony

Constant we hear its a small team as excuse..
Maybe people need to work on other things or more efficient.

I don't feel blackmailed, I enjoy and use my faithful TRS19 build 100240 dayly.
To support and help i have plus and beta test.
Even though often contradicted by N3v employees and their blind minions,
I will say what I notice is good and I say what I notice is wrong no matter what.
There is no hurry at all and always believe in the end it will improve.
By hard work I can create my own content, script and even tune parts of the interface.

Important to read and voice your opinion:
Too bad we cant read what others have posted...
greetings GM

Yes, as per the MyTrainz Agreement, "We have no obligation to monitor the Trainz Forum but we may do so."

Also in the MyTrainz Agreement,
Our Contact Details
Please contact us via our customer support system located at support.trainzportal.com.

That being said, they do respond to questions through the Discord Server but I assume that is under the same policy as the forum.

I'm not a lawyer but one of best friends is and he thinks the revised version of the MyTrainz Agreement is full of legal language designed to protect them from lawsuits or other risks. I have no idea what prompted the rather dramatic change in behavior but I believe something did. That is why I advise everyone to read both the revised code of conduct and the MyTrainz Agreement. They are legally binding documents.

Are you saying that N3V should have a (large) PR department that does nothing but read and respond to all the posts in all the forums? This argument has been raised before and, thankfully, ignored by N3V. As G.M. and Wreeder point out, log into their Discord channel if you want the latest news and to have a "chat".

Perhaps that is a sign of modern times. N3V is a business, not a charity or subsidised community meeting centre. They need to pay the bills, employ programmers (to fix the bugs and add new features). On that point, adding new features, is what brings in new customers.
being forced to total addiction on the monthly payments, subscriptions for game rent and event content rent,
How often have we heard that conspiracy theory and how often has it been debunked? The subscription Trainz Plus has been out for 4 or 5+ years now and we still have new retail (non-subscription) products being released. As Tony posted some time ago that the success of the subscription offering has been enough to employ additional programmers because it guarantees a steady income flow which the "stop start" product release every 2-3 years did not. No-one is forced to buy the subscription.

Too bad we have to put in an email address every time.

I see an integrated map data import feature has quietly disappeared.
It really hasn't. They alluded to that through using TNI. Using this interface, TransDem can be an integrated third-party tool. It is annoying that we can't see what others wrote. Their choice of categories such as important, must have, and critical is kind of lame. A simple star-rating would have been fine.

There's a lot of good stuff in there. How much comes to fruition is left up in the stars as usual.

Trainz is Trainz no matter how we slice and dice it. It's a great escape when things are going badly as they are for me right now.

Should the forums be AI integrated to handle the basics? I'm just going on the trend of how things are going in 2025 and onward, not a serious suggestion.

No, I am not saying that, do You read it there? I am not asking for any chat, what I am saying is that it is not even worth for them to drop any simple short message&link here on their (official) forum about their new roadmap, they just released few days ago. You are rather wrong if You consider that as a task for large PR dpt. maybe a relict of Your ex-corporate career? Of course I am able to log to Discord and communicate there, but as You could notice (did You?), I am talking about this (official) forum, which is by my opinion (unofficially) abandoned.

Either enthusiastic creators, who co-created the Trainz, as it is, are not going to be counted as charity for anyone's biz. If they need new customers, no reason to disregard current.

We? Who? You and Your pet? Debunked by what? By silent switching off of Trainz Android? What new (retail) DRM free products are being released?

If you want to use MPS to it’s full extent, if you want to use HD terrain to its full extent or TLE at all you have no choice.
If you want to see the latest releases, movies and TV shows, not available on "free to air" TV, then you need to buy a subscription to a streaming service - you have no choice. If you want the latest news from around the world immediately available at your fingertips then you need to subscribe to an online news service - you have no choice. So what is your point?

Do you mean giving the drivers another job? Oh, that would be interesting, just saying. /s

....
I only had to do that for the first comment.

I don't look at the forums much these days as it isn't as informative as it was. Most of the questions I have asked here over the last couple of years have gone unanswered. I do miss the old TrainzDev forum that, for a couple of halcyon years, often got responses from N3V programming staff.

These days, I get most of my ideas from the technical channels in Trainz Discord.

So what is your point?

could you please explain your comparison of a system with no choice versius a system where you can do exactly the same thing as you did yesterday (or last year or 10 years ago), or chose one of the new options.

It really does puzzle me so this is a genuine question I am keen to know the answer to.

The point is that once upon a time the Trainz retail product was the latest and greatest on release and is now no longer so.

Oddly, when I told Virgin media that I was leaving their subscription service, they suddenly found they could offer the service at half the cost they were previously intending to change me, because they suddenly decided I was a loyal customer.

I left anyway as my alternative plan was even cheaper.

Now there are several competitors, some of them free. Perhaps it is time for you to make a switch to something else that you will find to be of better value?
Could you link these competitors for us Peter? I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Cheers John
