Is there a Comprehensive Tutorial for DLS?

I cannot figure out how to get any of the downloaded content to show up in the game.

Is there a comprehensive tutorial or FAQ that would answer download and installation questions?

Also, is it this hard for everyone?

Thanks.

General Posting Info

Depends on what version of Trainz you are using. In general, and not just directed at you, Bede, anyone wanting to post questions and ask for help in the forums should always tell us what version of Trainz (or post in the version specific forums) and if the question about an asset, post the kuid number.

Yes, I have Trainz 2006.

I see items downloading in the Download Helper of the CMP, but where do they go? The help file doesn't explain how to make them appear in the game itself.

Thanks.

Downloads go into the TRS2006\cache\internet folder. If you have automatic commit turned on they will be compressed and placed in the database in TRS2006\local folder. You can check by clicking the Open for Edit tab in CMP. If anything is there, select them all and press Ctrl M to commit them. If they still don't show up in Surveyor, go back to CMP and right click the kuids you downloaded and see if they have errors or have missing dependencies.

When I download items from DLS, I find they go into the "internet" subfolder of the "cache" subfolder of the Auran folder. The best way I've found to find them in game is to select the tab "today" in CMP. If I'm downloading assets, I generally save them directly to a safe place (e.g., creating something like a "downloads/location/date" folder, and saving them to a safe place (I use my back up hdd, but YMMV) before installing them into a TRS.

Also, assets you download have to be committed to the game; until they're committed, they won't show up.

And, it should be noted that in some cases they may not show up even after they have been committed, as they may be missing dependencies.
