Industry loading/unloading area question

Sorry I can't figure this out or find the answer on the forum. In a loading/unloading industry what is the differences between a load/unloading area with a set of 4 square dots fairy close together and an area that has 6 square dots fairly far apart?
I can't seem to get the cars to load at areas with the 4 square dots.

It would help if you mention the industry in question as some have more than one area and one may only load while the other only unloads.

It's in the Port Ogden & Northern, in the Any Old Iron Session. The industry is at Steel Mill, Ind 14b. Trying to load gondolas.

That's one of my sessions from a Universe far far away, a long long time ago.

All the industries should be correctly configured to load or unload. Make sure the freight cars are stationary in the correct place - that is, between the yellow markers.

Phil,
Thanks for your answer.
I'm new at TranzMac. Your 2 routes are GREAT! Thanks for all you effort.
On the track where the steel is to be loaded, it has 4 yellow markers fairy close together. They are so close together the gondola's wheels are on either side of the yellow markers. I finally did get the gondolas loaded.
But I still have the question"what is the differences between a load/unloading area with a set of 4 yellow markers fairy close together and an area that has 6 yellow markers fairly far apart?

LARS and ProtoLARS

Hi Indy --

Way back I used to provide a little more detail in the text under the thumbnail. This is from an older (2007) session:

Note: In this session three yellow markers represent a LARS section of track; two ProtoLARS. Freight cars will load or unload when stationary on a LARS section. If one car in the consist has been stationary on a ProtoLARS section for one minute, all freight cars in the consist will load or unload in sequence. Right clicking on the section of track will show what it programmed to produce or consume.

So, the markers come in pairs - one represents the beginning and the other the end of the interactive track.

If their are two sets of 3 yellow markers (LARS or a standard interactive track section), stop the train with the freight car or freight cars between the yellow markers. The freight cars will load or unload.

ProtoLARS (two sets of 2 yellow markers) works slightly differently. Spot one car between the markers. There will be a delay. Depending on how the ProtoLARS has been configured either all freight cars will load/unload, or loading/unloading will happen in sequence, with up to a minute delay between individual cars loading/unloading. With ProtoLARS the locomotive does not have to be coupled to the consist; with LARS it does for loading/unloading to happen.

The difference in spacing of the yellow markers is because the LARS interactive track is much longer than the ProtoLARS.

Perfect answer to my question. Now I know why the Gondolas weren't loading. I wasn't waiting long enough.
I'll also check the link you supplied.
Thanks
