Importance of having up-to-date graphics drivers?

Hello all,

Could someone fill me on the importance of updating graphics drivers? When installing a second copy of Trainz 12 on my PC, it notified me that my graphics driver is 18 months out of date. It is not giving me any apparent issues. So if it is working fine currently, is it really necessary to install a current driver? I have always thought this was one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" deals.

Updates to graphics drivers usually result in increased graphic performance, implement new features, or fix bugs. Sometimes they get it wrong. I always download the latest drivers. You can revert to the previous driver if the new one causes problems.

Yup. I concur. I am running Windows 10 and the previous 2 versions of the NVidia driver caused crashes. The very earliest versions not quite being fully compatible were worse and actually caused BSODs. The latest version, build 353.62 is the most stable and I have had no graphics failure/restarts, or BSODs.

This is why it's good to keep up on drivers.
