How to modify files *. JA?

I managed to extract files as TGA, TXT and wav files from *. JA

I would like to export again in the *. JA.

The reason enhance and personalize my Trainz, Snow, sounds, icons ... etc.

Since when have the real copy at any time I can restore it to original.

I almost get with Multiex comander, but I can then import the modified files.

Thank you.

I'm not sure how kosher this is. However, it would be nice if users could fix the sounds and the snow, among other things, to our liking.

First off let me state that editing your JA files is not supported by n3v and you may find them not willing to help you if you do so.

To re-import stuff into the JA files you actually don't, Just export everything out of the ja file into a folder called whatever ja file you opened and place your edited stuff into there.

you can see some of the changes I've done here: http://s4.zetaboards.com/amtkz/topic/9392723/2/#new

As Peter has stated, you do it at your own risk. N3V do not support this at all, and will not help if it goes pear-shaped, as it is seen as a violation of the license agreement.

Also be aware that your game may become unpatchable if any new patches are released if the .JA file is modified.

I thought that may be the case - thanks NS37!

If I'm right in saying, any modifications to Trainz core files will render the game unpatchable, as it will fail the CRC check.

So you simply place the default JA files back into the folder, update, then carry over the changes you made in the old JA file. Not rocket science here!

For most users, this is very complex, and also there's the issue of what changes are made to the .JA files during the patching.

this is exactly how i do it. but yes it is something that the average user should not attempt and then try to submit a support ticket :hehe:

The only thing you could change or adjust is: rain, snow sizes ... the size of the red/green junction arrows ... built-in tracksounds ... and this:

Actually there is a lot more things in there you can adjust. See the link I posted in my last post, all that stuff I modified from inside the JA files, and there is a lot more stuff I could (and started) doing. Other adjustments you can do include: Built-in content, Train UI, Sun, Stars, Railyard, almost (if not) all the sounds, the list goes on!
