How many people use CAB mode?! Do you?

I like to watch my AI train run ... by looking down on it from the cab of an airplane that is driving on elevated BNSF50 Invisatrack.

Also the driveable switchtower "SignalBox, SignalBox Interior, SignalBox Clock" gives a cool cab view of AI trainz running.

...most trains will pretty much 'stop on the spot' if you're in DCC mode. The physics rules adds some of those phsyics features to DCC mode, but not all...

That's not my experience at all. I have a bunch of diesels that respond pretty much like real locos--- Taks them a while to get up to speed and you better be careful because it takes them a while to stop, too.

Still amazed at the response! Deff more than 1%! Its great how Trainz has gone from the old model railroading type of game to more of a sim. I hope it keeps moving forwards in this but never loses the option of DCC for those people who want that accesibility :)

Theres nothing like an interior view, it adds so much more, especially if you use cab mode. I can't use any locomotive if it doesn't have an interior (I can put up with it if its one of my AI trains) as it means going miles along a route trying to drive while constantly on the exterior view.. no matter how detailed the route is I find that boring!

Best way to experience a route has to be from the cab, adding that immersion that you could be there :)

Free Drive. No Engines??

Why is it that when I go into "free-drive", I can add "consists" yet they are all support cars....no engines???

DCC only. I do this for fun.

I'm kinda the same way. I'm more about switching and delivering goods and passengers than actual driving...though i do enjoy challenging myself evey now and then by tying some loaded iron ore jimmies behind a couple tunnel motors and trying to climb North Pass on the PO&N. speaking of which...

*reeeee-YOUW!!!*

I'm using CAB mode now. I was using DCC mode when I started using Trainz Classics 3 (a couple of years ago). I guess I have reached the stage where DCC is too easy and so I had to step up to CAB mode.:D

Wow thats great, didn't think of that! Shows it well :).
I find it crazy some people just use AI, therefore just sit and enjoy the ride of watch the opperations happening..
This is something i've been doing the most of recently in testing sessions but I use cab when i'm driving

My feelings exactly!! I read some guy's post a few years ago and he (or she) said something to the effect "---I never ride in the cab... never run locomotives... I just build routes. That's all I care about." Not exactly those words, but, well to each his own, but there's nothing like riding INSIDE the loco and watching the scenery go by. IMHO of course.

I just purchased this sim

:udrool: I just purchased this sim and man is it fun . I am trying to learn the cab mode as I feel this is really the only way to have the full immersion factor. However I am just learning and wish I had a book that explaines everything a little clearer. However my intention is to operate these beasts as the real engineers operate em and catch the scenery as I may. However I;m so new I dont even know how to operate this systemtheeasy way yet . If anyone have any suggestions for the best way to fully learn the CAB mode please feel free to reply

Just keep practicing, eventually you'll get the hang of it, it really isn't all that hard once you get going. As long as you know where the breaks are you should be fine! Should have seen me trying the first time, full throttle, couldn't find the breaks :hehe:

C20

I love to use cab mode in trains when the train have a cab. But the swedish C20 (www.svoyager.com) is great to drive in cab mode!

That is because it is designed to be run from the cab in Cab Mode. It doesn't even work properly in DCC mode.

And it is very realistic to drive, it is very close to "the real thing". Most controls work in a prototypical way. All sounds are authentic, recorded on board a C20. The C20 Project Team had access to a C20 (2163) and a driver for a couple of hours for sound recordings under controlled circumstances. PA messages and info display texts are copies of the files used on the real C20.

I like cab mode for diesel and steam engines.
Steam is a lot of fun to twittle with to keep the pressure up for the next hill, and let things cool off for the long shallow descent.
Now diesel gets to be interesting, when dynamic braking is applied on long
3% slopes with heavy freightloads,at least that makes it interesting for me.

Now DDC is not a bad thing for testing stuff on AI intensive layouts,I think
Cab Mode + DDC are essential for the gameplay that Trainz provides. ;)

Cheers

I enjoy switching and way freights and find that DCC and the external view work best for me. I never use the Cab view because visibility is so limited in most locomotives. Someday I hope to have the TrainDriver control console. Then I will be driving more using CAB control.
