Hi Dan

As far as I know these aren't errors but the database reporting what it has repaired. Just ignore them.

Brian

OK, the only real errors are the bottom 3/4 (the ones above are simply saying what has already been fixed)

Also, have you remembered to wait between closing Trainz and shutting down your system? A background process (TADDaemon) is usually still running for a few minutes after closing Trainz and needs to close normally (by itself) otherwise that will be a problem.

You will probably find that the affected asset(s) with actual errors should be listed as Faulty, and all that needs doing is a config.txt change (easiest way of doing it is to use CCP (or it's equivalent in TS2010) if present, otherwise it will be a manual change.

Program Repair

Sorry to butt in, but I have seen comments on database/program repair - I have 2006 - where do I find this please?

Tks

Hi Jules22

The database repair is something that was introduced in CMP from TS2009 onwards. TRS2006 can be forced to rebuild its database by deleting the assets.tdx and assets.bku files in the installation. When you restart the program it will then rebuild the database. I only did this as a last resort when I ran TRS2006 a couple of years ago but it did work when I had to do it. If you do need to do it then note that the assets.bku file isn't always present.

Your help appreciated

Hi Brian

Thanks for your advice.
I have just bought 2010 and am awaiting delivery. Can I get my favourite (complicated) 2006 layout work in 2010?
How do I transpose it to 2010? Copy local and assests.tdx into it in some way?
Your help appreciated

Thanks

Jules

Don't touch assets.tdx in TS2010. It stores your user data in addition to the Trainz Asset database details.

Search the forum for importing assets from TRS2006 into TS2009/10. You do it all through Content Manager.

Convert route and required assets to CDP's and import into 2010 is the safe way. Be prepared to do some error/fault repairs though.

To move a built-in asset from one Trainz install (TS1) to another (TS2), follow these steps:

1) Make a note of the KUID of the asset in TS1.
2) Clone the asset in TS1.
3) Open the cloned asset in Explorer.
4) In config.txt, change the asset-kuid field to the original KUID.
5) Save and close the config.txt. Make a note of the folder name.
6) Go up one level and copy the asset folder to the desktop.
7) In TS1, delete the cloned copy of the asset.
8) In TS2, go to File>Import Content... and point the program to the asset folder you just saved to the desktop.

After I've created the CDP for the original asset, I find it helpful to check to see if the asset has dependencies. If it does, I select "View in main list", highlight all of them, and save them to a CDP called AssetName Deps or whatever. If there are missing dependencies for the orginal asset after I import the CDP, I can import the the AssetName Dep CDP SKIPPING any dependencies that are already installed in the newer version.

CDPs only work for assets that are not built-in. This is so Auran can protect their payware. You can import built-in content to other versions of Trainz using the method I outlined.

When I wanted to copy my Maria Pass Plus route and 8 sessions from TS2006 to TS2010 I made content archive files as this picked up dependancies and also worked on built in routes. This is the method recommended by Josef.

Content Manager archive (.cmpa files) are useful for doing single or several assets. I do indeed have a tutorial on these, which is in my blog.

I made a copy of the local folder in 2006 and and transfered into 2010 with the CMP.......FIRST THING THOUGH when you get 2010 do all the patches first this will take a while then be prepared to update a lot of things........
