Highlad Valley in TRS2010EE

um...methinks that destroyer's sinking:eek:

Haha, yeah, boats aren't exactly my specialty Sawyer, I'll lift it a bit next time I'm in Surveyor. Before I go to bed, here's one last screenshot for the day, thanks everyone for the compliments, it keeps me going...

After a long day, the diesel shop begins closing up for the evening. The shop switcher pushes a Long Island ALCo (Enjoy Dietrich, haha) inside while three other ALCo units wait to be put inside for the night. In the background an RDC with boxcar in tow comes off the Afton Branch via the bypass after serving the Highland Valley Air Force Base.

I did that route once. Might do it again! Amazing work but what i found is that u run double stacks it won't fit under the bridge!

Ah, more greatness. I love Highland Valley and I may redo the route in the future for everyone. But, your version rocks! I can't wait to see more. Well done, cheers and keep up the good work. :D

Story Time!

Howdy folks,

I've made another step forward on the route's scenery upgrades and I'm very happy with the results. Tonight we take you to a renewed Highland Terminal, where inspiration was drawn from the yard in Danbury, CT. I'm still waiting to do track signage, telegraph wires, and power lines, so if you've noticed them missing, that's why. In the meantime... enjoy!

The engine shop in Greenwood has just finished work on a pair of ALCo's for the Long Island Railroad. Before they go home, they must pick up a pair of EMU's that were being overhauled at the car shop in Highland, the terminal of the Afton Branch. Here we see the LIRR Afton Extra entering yard limits.

tbob_20110822_0002.png

Slowing to enter the shop track, the LIRR diesels meet the "Highland Roamer" and a pair of RDC's that just came into the commuter platform.

tbob_20110822_0003.png

This evening's "Roamer" is led by an FL9, which is a last minute change of power. The usual C-Liner is in for it's 90-Day inspection, and the only locomotive available for duty was an FL9, one of four that are based out of Greenwood and Lumby. The FL9's usually remain on the Mainline for service into NYC's third-rail territory to take full advantage of their dual-mode capability.

Highland Terminal has two tracks, one for the larger long and medium distance trains, and one for the commuter railcars. The terminal is at the end of a loop where locomotive hauled trains are turned around and stored for layover after terminating on the Afton Branch.

The yard in Highland has an engine house, a repair shop for both steam or diesel, and a car shop that services the region's rolling stock. The RS3 in the shop is the terminal's resident switcher and the steam locomotive is refueling after switching work at the mine in Stormont. The "Highland Limited" lays over on the loop, and the "Roamer's" usual pilot sits in the engine house awaiting inspection in the morning.

The LIRR units run over the grade crossing and onto the car shop track.

Having collected their EMU's, the ALCo's will head down the Afton Branch to Greenwood, then onto Lumby, where they will sit overnight before being collected by a New York Central freight that will take them south.

That's it for now folks. Thanks everyone for the compliments! They really make route building easy with all that support!

Here's one more that I forgot to add from lastnight... I was watching Doctor Who at the same time so I was a little distracted, haha

Cool stuff Tbob. Your New Haven themed Highland Valley is out standing. I also love the Long Island Railroad additions that you have added and that is awesome! I can't wait for the next bunch of New Haven Highland Valley goodness. If only my friend Stan was still living, he was a brakeman on the New Haven. But, if he was here he'd say, 'Well done, you have made my former employer look good and if they were still around, you would impress the masses all across the system.'

Just to prove to everyone that I'm still alive, here's some screens of a newly updated Lumby. I'll have story time for everyone tomorrow...

Amazing work Tbob, really enjoying these screenshots ye posting especially the banjo railroad crossing. Those skies in those last shots for some reason give me a chill down my spine however..

Very awesome work so far, looks like you've complexity remodelled that area where Greenwood lake is, i cant work out where that is? :hehe:

Can I suggest replacing the JR track for the terrain track of the same type, and also maybe use the matching texture too, other then that, i cant fault it :)

Will I get to have a play around on this route anytime soon?

20th Century Diversion (Part 1)

Thanks guys! As far as the track goes, I don't think I'm going to be changing it anytime soon, mostly because I'd lose my sanity if I had to relay the map (again, haha). As far as textures goes, I agree, I still need to go in and touch up quite a bit. The route still needs a little TLC before I put it up for grabs. I just hope people understand that it's not going to be perfect and I did it mostly to take scenic screenshots of my favorite Trainz equipment. It was the first route I ever ran in Trainz when I first got 04, so it holds a special place in my heart. Now, as promised, here's story time, enjoy!

It's evening in Highland Valley, and after a lengthy phone call earlier in the day between the New York Central and New Haven railroads' brass, a New York Central freight approaches Greenwood with a set of F-Units on the tail end. The Sharknose and FA units are bringing a scheduled set of empty coal cars to be dropped at the yard in Greenwood, but while the freight locomotives will depart early the following morning, the F-Units will stay until the afternoon. The reason? Due to extensive track work being conducted by the New York Central, the southbound 20th Century Limited will be diverted onto the Highland Valley Division. The train is scheduled to be led by a streamlined Hudson and will arrive in Greenwood just after lunch time. The steamer will disconnect from the train and head to the service area by the roundhouse, while the yard switcher will remove the observation car from the rear and take it for a spin on the turntable. The switcher will then remove the baggage cars and send them to the rear of the train and bring the observation car to the front. The F-Units will the couple ahead of the observation car and lead the train to Lumby. There the EMD's will run-around to the proper end of the train and take it to Croton via Fox Brook Junction and down the Fox Brook Branch on home rails.

Here we see the train passing Greenwood Lake station, F-Units in tow, having just emerged from the Fox Brook tunnel...

That's it for tonight folks, stay tuned for Part 2!

LMAO you don't have to replace the track by hand. TS2010 has a replace asset tool so you can replace it all in 1 swoop..But then again you have been away so long your not up on all the features.:hehe:

Is this going to be released soon? I think it's safe to sat that this route is definatley a favorite of all of of us.
