Clutter effects don't work above 200(?) m in SP4

hiawathamr

DLC developer for Trainz
As the title says, in SP4 the clutter effects doesn't render above 200(?) m and this was discovered on my WIP route. My Harvard Sub and probably a few other DLCs that goes above 200(?) m. This isn't helpful for those that uses TransDEM (like myself) and clutter effects as TransDEM routes can easily go above 200 m.
Already sent a bug report in but want to see if devs will also spot this in addition to community feedback.

My questions?
- is this a bug that's considered a game feature (like most other bugs are)?
- why was this limit placed (performance can't be the reason)?
- how do I override this on a route level so it always works above 200 m?

Not a happy creator,

Clutter effects haven't rendered over 200 ft since clutter was introduced. It's a cool feature that was executed poorly and has continued to exist in this state since but thank god they "fixed" the roaming camera rotation in the latest patch...

Considering that Clutter is supposed to replace TurfFX, this is not good. How did this even happen?
Something that should've been reported wasn't. I would still submit a bug report. There's a new beta coming out soon and this will be something to get right on the list to ensure that the issue is fixed before the next release.

Clearly the supplied images prove you wrong.

A couple of corrections. Firstly, it is 200m (656ft) not 200ft. Secondly, from my experiments (just completed), it seems to depend on the clutter selected.

Of the two Clutter Effect Layers I tested, one happily rendered at an altitude of 330m (1,082ft), which was as high as I tested. The other stopped rendering at 200m.

There was also a great deal of variability between the two effect layers in regard to their visibility. This may have been due to the assets selected in the clutter itself. One started to vanish from view much faster than the other as you moved the camera further out and would also vanish shortly after the camera started moving from a horizontal to a vertical viewpoint.

Since it has been a while since I used the Clutter Effect Layer (several SPs ago) I cannot say if these are new or old issues.

PS: One thing that you might check is the maximum altitude setting for the layer in the Edit Effect Layer. In my case both layers maxed out at 3000m.

Hi everyone,

Just want to update everyone that N3V's QA was able to reproduce the issue and it was passed the devs.

Cheers

Ok 200 meters but still doesn't change the fact this is an issue as every route ever is bigger than 200 meters
It's been reported and acknowledged. See this post above.

N3V devs will probably have this fixed in the next release.
