I have three train models that I created in GMAX(TAC) and I convert them into IM format but I dont know what else to do from there, a lot of people have train models on this game and I wanted to know from them how do I get my trains to work on trainz properly

I think from here, you need to:

1) Ensure all of the texture files are in the asset folder.

2) You need to create a config file for your model

3) Ensure that everything works properly by testing.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else offhand.

ok were going to start with step one, how do i Ensure all of the texture files are in the asset folder?

In TACS/GMax, click on the icon which looks like a hammer (Utilities), go down to Resource Collector, click, click Browse, this should open the relevant folder for your created asset, if not navigate to it and open it, click on OK, click on Begin, and this will collect all your textures and put them in the folder. Problem solved - the easiest way. Or of course you could copy each texture manually (outside TACS/GMax) and put them in the folder ... you could do this before starting to create an assest.

how do I copy the textures manually

Manually...

how do I copy the textures manually

Very briefly,

In CMP, open your asset for edit in Explorer (ctrl-shift-E). In the folder tree display on the left, browse out to where your .tga file(s) are located. Left-click on the .tga (ctrl-left-click for multiple files), and when all are highlighted press Ctrl-C to copy to the clipboard (or right-click and choose Copy from the drop-down).

In the folder tree display, return to TS2009/editing/and the folder for your asset, right-click once on the folder to open it in the large right window. Right-click once there and then Ctrl-V to paste all the .tga files. Note that your asset's folder in /editing/ may be named "New Asset" or be named with a random string of numbers and letters - make a note of it before you browse out to the location holding your .tga files (should have mentioned that above).

The Resource Collector in gmax is the easiest way to put your textures in the corret folder. Take note, however, that you can not just navigate to the folder where you want to put the textures: you must also select/click on something in that folder (e. g. a file) for it to copy every thing to that folder; otherwise, it puts them in the parent folder. ;)

Regards.

I must say that I have never found it necessary to click on a file in the target folder. and that clicking 'Use path' (not 'OK' as I suggested earlier without checking) has always worked for me. I've just checked.
