Hi Everyone,
I'm 14 and live in Melbourne, Australia. This is obviously my first post and only just joined. I've been overlooking this forum for about a week and thought I should just join. I'm doing a TMD at the moment called "William St TMD" which has a Repair shed, fueling point and 2 sidings. How do you take photos in Trainz??

The real easy way is to drag a rectangular box on yor screen with the MS Snipping Tool (accesories) which then is a jpg in your PC Pictures file, and upload jpg image to Photobucket, and by copy paste the direct link tag via Photobucket, by using the yellow cheesy mountain symbol (in the message box on the forum).

OR: By using the Prt Scn key on you keyboard puts a TGA image in the TRS2006 screenshots file, which must be converted to a jpg via Free Irfanview. (However in TS 09/10 it is already a jpg in your screenshots, and does not need converting to a jpg).

I'm 57 and live in Wisconsin, USA. I can't see you from here, there's a planet in the way. :hehe: For screenshots, in the upper right corner of most keyboards there's a Print Screen key, while you have the game running it will take a screenshot every time you hit that key. After you quit the game, open Windows Explorer and browse to wherever you have Trainz installed, typically something like C:\Program Files\Auran\TS2010\UserData\screenshots. If you have an image editor that opens JPG files you're in business, otherwise download Convim from http://fly.to/mwgfx/ (also get the DLL package if you don't have it installed already). Another useful program on that site is IBrowse in the beta section, again if you already have a favorite image editing program you won't need any of those. if you do, they're free.

Next step, edit the image and save it back as a JPG file, or use Convim if the only editor you have is Windows paint.

http://imageshack.us/ is a free image hosting website, upload the image or images there;

Then select an image, click on Direct link;

Switch back to this website, click the Insert Image icon, and hold down the CTRL key and hit V to paste the link;

And then go crazy filling up the screenshot forum.

For all the lines with what products we've used or use, that's what we've registered at planet Auran.

On the page, on the left, you will see a subheading saying Trainz, and a list of things you can do. Click on 'Serial Number', select what Trainz version you have, and write in your serial number that's on a sticker on either the back of the manual or cd cover. After registering, I'll show you how to download, it all depends on what version of the game you have
Also, if you're from Melbourne, you should join Victrainz, I'm H222 there, but everyone there is happy and willing to help you with an issue, as well as here

Hi Jack5black,

Welcome to the forum. There's no need to send greetings from downunder because Trainz is also from downunder! It's home is in Queensland, just outside of Brisbane. You will also notice, depending on the time of day, that there are many Australians on the forum, so I guess the appropriate salutation is just: "Hello" or "Greetings!"

Many of the questions you ask have been asked many, many, many times before. The folks here will let you ask a couple, then they may become disenchanted. To avoid that happening, may I suggest that you you read all the sticky posts at the top of each forum and the Code of Conduct. All will have answers to some of your questions. Then please practice with the search box. Try the advanced search box as it's better.

Unfortunately the search facility on this forum is terrible, so maybe a better idea is to use Google Search. Just add the word Trainz to your search.

Next, please read as many of the older forums as you can. Most are very interesting and there's a wealth of knowledge buried away there.

Finally, subscribe to, and download all back issues if the Trainz Community News. It contains a section called "Forum Tips" where many of your questions have been answered, or will be answered in future issues.

Welcome to the Trainz forums, the best place on the net. Enjoy your time, and feel free to ask questions: we don't learn if we don't ask. Just make sure questions haven't already been answered by using the forum search function. It is handy, if a little limited in options.

Being a fellow Aussie, and craving only the best, as you are, i thought i'd help out by pointing the way to some good Aussie content; if you haven't already found it.

Be warned, i am biased heavily in the direction of NSW, so most content/authors listed here will show that bias

Having been thus warned; try the following searches on the DLS:

Authors
Muliebuck (modular masterpieces); Axe1970 (a few great rooutes, including his latest, Georgetown to Train Rocks); Davido (NSW rolling stock- No Cityrail V's as yet, but they're coming- We think); Natvander (track and signals); S301, colhad; Patchy, electro, vinnybarb; willem2.
That is by no means comprehensive, but its a start.

Also, try searching different terms such as QR, NSW, VR, AN, PN, etc. There is a wealth of Aussie content out there; building realistic routes is not to hard, if you use the right search terms to find content.

I also suggest a stop by the Australian screenshots thread. There are soe truly inspirational people who post there almost exclusively. They are all good for a bit of help and advice if needed.
