Hi there i am very keen to start a Hay Point Route with would Focus on coal operations.

What i am wondering is if someone has any info on rail maps or the like for the area. Ive searched the web but cant find anything on that sort of thing. Wheather i am searching for the right thing is another question, so it could eb something as simple as me not asking for the right info.

Or alternativly i could use google earth but the Hay Point area is not in High Detail, only by a few Klms. However if push come to shove i can gte a basic idea off of that.

So yeah basicly any info would be grealty appreciated.

Thanx in advance,
Brownie

Iv'e had a go at that line,
theres hay point and another unloading bay called Darlrymple bay,
eaveauntually, they both meet up, and 20 kms down the line theres a place called Jillalin, pretty much the next biggest thing to Mayne, this is the only part that Ive got 100% correct, its got 4 arrival roads on the east long enough to put a 148 car coalie (trains that they used to run there(Get back to that later)) Provisioning shed on the south and about halfway heading north it all gets complicated, Id actually get you a diagram which even has the signals, but Its Illegal for me to guive it to you. A few more Kms down the line it gets into the cane fields of Sarina, Eaveauntually the North coast line will go underneath you, along with the 2 foot gauge cane railways, the NCL follows next to you for about 2 to 3 Kms and into a station, Yukan is the only place with any of the Goonyalla coal line is connected with the NCL, from there it gets pretty intense, so Ill guive you all that info tomorrow.
As for the trains they run, they firstly had the old Blue 2100's, they would have 2 or 3 of those and in the middle of the train, another 2 followed by a ELRC, a 2 bogie wagon with all the Locotrol crap and circuits in it, over all those trains had 148 wagons and were 13000 tonne. The line was duplicated and Electrified in the Late 80's - Early 90's, and they then used various types of electrics. Their trains then were 2 to 3 electrics at the front, 60 hoppers, another 2 to 3 Electrics in the middle, however they still used the ELRC, followed up by another 60 hoppers, in overall just under 13000 tonne.

Hurleyco...........

P.S. Type in QR in google, click on Queensland Rail homepage, Click Track access, Download documents, to the left youll see a section with the heading download documents, click on System maps and line diagrams, go down to North coast line and goonyella systems.

P.P.S. may take a while to load............

Geez thanx for that Hurleyco, Yeah ive only been thinking of doin it for a little while. My uncle works at North Goonyella, and when we went to visit him he took us for a drive out to the port where the coal goes. Bloody fasinating stuff. Thanx for all that info should get into some trouble no doubt.

May I ask how you know all this stuff?? Did you work on the railway, in the mines, live in the area, or like me just wanna give it ago??

Cheers,

A man once helped build the railway after being a stationmaster at various places (the railway gave him a golden spike for his contribrution) (half fake of course), after the railway was built, they offered him the spot as stationmaster of Jilalin, after a few years of that, his son took up the position of roster Clerk at Jilalin. Meanwhile, all the way over at Cloncurry (or somewhere like that) A man decided to become a tudor driver of theese truly monstorus beasts, A few years later the stationmasters 2nd Daughter became a Cleaner for the Loco's at the Depot.

The man from cloncurry is my father, and the 2nd Daughter is my mother, the Stationmaster is my Grandfather and the son is my Uncle.

My Mother and Father got married in a park at Mackay in 1992 and are still together, my Grandfather is now retired after 45 years of serving the Queensland Goverment Railways and now has a garden named after him at Jilalin station, And, My Uncle is now a controller on the Goonyella system.

Hurleyco................;)
