Have you noticed....

Have you noticed how long it took for the powers that be (ptb), in this case the very top amigo of AURAN/N3V himself, His Eminent Highness, the very Sir Antony Hilliam, to answer this thread here? Not even a quarter of an hour it took for HEH to do this. Lets say if it took HEH to first read this post, then think of an appropriate answer for it and then write such, possibly correcting and/or altering this along the way, after HEH would have seen this irritating (for him) post. Now, if we mere mortals do indeed post sometimes such important query, question or whatever, why wont the ptb do similar and answer this here speedily the same way as HEH did just there? After all, THIS IS a forum where us mere mortal people can ask, tell, point out, help, comfort, deny, cajole, add, decry, inform, show, denounce, praise, tell off, write or whatever.

Unless AURAN/N3V have a build in alert software or such in this forum, that activates a siren, bell, hooter, boot to kick someone up his/her proverbial or similar on their end to tell the ptb that there is something irritating getting posted here.

Is there and have they? :p

Cheers

It wasn't a query that was posted; it was a threat, and a rather funny one at that, especially if the U.K. or Aus has frivolous lawsuit laws like much of the U.S. does or offers reimbursement for legal fees.

As the CEO (?), I'm guessing "HEH" is the more attuned to the legal and business end of the business - apropos to this matter.

Boy! Does THAT hit the proverbial nail on the head.

EDIT: Just the same, RRSignal, the reply WAS on the order of lightspeed compared to the non-responses we get from the "help" desk.

Afterthought: Have you also noticed in His Eminent Highness, the very Sir Antony Hilliam's post there, he does not have TS10 in his top avatar region listed and one therefore can deduct/assume not to have TS10 in his possession. Does this perhaps mean, as one can reasonably deduct from this none listing of it that TS10 is not worthy to have in HEH's possession? Does this also perhaps mean, TS10 is perhaps not as good as TS09 or as TS12 is, for HEH to try and to have?

I wait with baited breath for a similar speedily answer from HEH to this earth shattering observation of mine  :hehe: :p.

Cheers

Somebody probably hit the alert button as soon as it was posted, and we have so many lawyer wannabees practicing law without a license in this forum they probably thought it was a good idea to lock it fast. Unless you have actually passed a bar exam, rendering legal opinions on the internet is a criminal act in most countries, even though idiots do it all the time.

15 minutes for a thread to be locked must also be a record and include a reply from the main man.

Oh, it was fast alright. Making threats does tend to encourage a prompt response.

April 1st is exactly 200 days ahead.

Methinks the OP in the link posted by VB is just a tad early!

Regarding the early warning alert signal theory, I guess it is possible that bells and whistles sound loudly within N3V High Command upon immediate recognition of certain key words.

“Legal”, could well elicit a response. “Action”, of course, is unlikely to be in the list on account of its ambiguity and potential confusion with having to do something!

alantaylor61 is an idiot, plain and simple. Invisible locos? ONLY 1 ROUTE! He's an utter fool. I hope he is banned forever. If he actually gets it as far as the Trading Standards office, they'll laugh. And if his utterly stupid case suceeds, I will carpet-bomb his house. Have you seen this guys threads? It's just moan, moan, moan. This person is an absolute thicko, just ignore him.

LOL. Crossed that one of my help list ages ago. Probably has the boxed set of Watchdog. (UK Consumer moaning TV program)

Edit:

Last time it was threatening a Class Action Lawsuit, guess he couldn't find any friends for that.

Mr. Hilliam made a wise move. Respond civilly to the threatening post and then lock the thread. He obviously can recognize a bag of hot air when he sees it. alantaylor61 got my dander up when he mentioned uploaded content as rubbish the other day. While not referring to my own content directly, such a blanket statement does not tend to go over well with the masses. I usually don't respond to such displays, but I felt the need to defend my fellow content creators since I have contributed a little myself.

People can sit behind their computers and take on all kinds of personae, usually opposite of their natural behaviors. It is easy to be a cyber-bully when no one knows where you are or what you look like. I take the opposite view - the only thing that the rest of the forum can see is my words. I should do my best to be as pleasant and polite as I can be.

OK, down off my soap box. It's time for supper. :)

I equate the internet to the CB radio craze of the 70's here in the States...... plunk down $40 and 15 minutes later your behind the microphone talking trash and hiding behind microphone...

Now people talk trash and hide behind the keyboard....

I cannot speak for Tony himself but one can assume he responded and locked the thread before it turned into a flamewar. One can assume he was either alerted to the thread by someone - be it staff or user - or he saw it on the 'new posts' list as I did. As Tony is quite busy, he can only reply to certain threads and posts that require immediate attention from himself, whilst all other threads are able to be dealt with by the rest of the staff.

We do take issues like this very seriously and we like to ensure our users are able to enjoy their products and not feel let down. We attempt to resolve all problems in a timely and effective manner, though we cannot always do so as quickly as we would like. Rest assured, if you do have issues and you submit a ticket to the helpdesk, either Zec or myself will get to it as soon as possible. Some issues require much more troubleshooting and testing and as such, they can take a little longer.

If anyone experiences issues, feel free to submit a ticket to the helpdesk (support.auran.com). As far as threads are concerned, we do our best to look over the forums and see as many threads as we can, so if your thread absolutely requires a member of the staff's attention, it will undoubtedly be seen by one of us in due time.

Thanks all for your understanding and patience and if you have any concerns, we are only a PM away. (:

That's nice to hear, Kris, but I've got 3 unanswered help requests (2 open and one closed - which shouldn't be closed) that have been sitting there for months with no (or little answers). They have not been resolved, nor have they been commented upon in ages. I've pretty much given up of getting any help from the help desk. Sometimes, I even wonder if they ever make it there instead of just getting tucked away into some sort of triage filter never to be seen by a human being. Going back to a simpl email confirmation of a help request would be nice.

Zec is the most active person on the staff as far as I can tell, yet his posts always say something like "don't PM me for help".

As you say: "Feel free to submit" a ticket, what you don't say is how long (if ever) we will have to wait for an answer.

To be fair, I've received some answers to a problem that say something like "reload the entire game" even though I've just done that - and reported it in the original request. For a game with several updates, reloading the entire game may take literally days to complete - especially if one has gigabytes of content. Blithely telling someone to simply reload it just isn't a good solution, but only serves to give you some breathing room to possibly formulate a better answer. I know you guys work hard, but sometimes the answers we get aren't well thought out.

My one ticket (OMD-149232) has been active since the 9th of July - two months ago - and is nowhere near being satisfied. I've pretty much given up on running anything in TS2010 because most of the content has been "upgraded" to 2012 and won't run or is flagged as faulty in 2010. I'm about to drop Trains altogether due to just this subject - unupdateable objects.

Sorry about the soapbox, but you offered the forum for it.

Bill

I don't quite understand the point of this thread. The person that threatened legal action is obviously in need of some kind of mental health evaluation at the minimum, so why is it necessary to follow his ranting with the OP in this thread?

I would think this thread falls under the following heading, as listed in the COC:

Interfering with, criticising and / or publicly commenting about moderation decisions. Messages commenting on or criticizing forum administrative actions will be removed without warning. Any complaints or disagreements regarding forum or chat room moderation should be made by contacting Helpdesk.

But what do I know?

I suppose you are right Euphod, there really is nowhere else this thread can go in a positive direction. If anyone has an issue, feel free to PM me.

Kris
