GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

I tried do do chains once on a model for a crane; Trainz did not like to so I had to split it up as a LOD and problem solved. I only just scrapped through to NV3's required settings. As Mine was above the limit. :hehe:

There's may ways to skin a cat. I had one of my older Swiss locomotives running pretty close to the upper limit, so I decided to do a lot of the smaller stuff as attachments and used the cut-off function as extra LOD. The philosophy being that stuff you only see close-up does not need to tax the LOD it you can proived a simple on-off function. Worked like charm and still does in T:ANE.

love the cars. where will they be hosted at? sorry the question was for the 80ft+ boxcars

The Blender Exporter won't export UV maps.

Apologies if this problem has been addressed before, but the search function hasn't found the answer for me. Basically, I've been using the Trainz exporter for Blender (https://sourceforge.net/projects/blenderextrainz/) for the past two days, and I can't get the UV map to export with the model. Consequently, I get a blank model in Content Manager regardless of what texture I use or how I set up the texture.txt file.

I've already tried reassigning the material in Blender, and the result has been a long list of errors, including...

export_trainz.py, line 2581, in execute result = start(self.properties.filepath, context)

export_trainz.py, line 2364, in start te.export <>

export_trainz.py, line 2337, in export self.collect_data<>

export_trainz.py, line 2243, in collect_data self.check_materials<>

export_trainz.py, line 1837, in check_materials
<ts.texture.image.use.alpha and AttributeError: 'Image' object has no attribute 'use_alpha'

location:<unknown location>:-1

location:<unknown location>:-1

so what else is there? I would post screenshots, but the forum won't let me upload anything.

Okay, I solved my own problem just as I was about the go to bed, which makes me very happy. :D Apparently, the existing version of the exporter only works with the latest version of Blender, and I was using version 2.62...which dates back to 2011. That makes some sense, I guess. Thanks anyway to anyone who read my post, and I'll be back if I have any more problems.

That's more a comment for the Content Creation Support forum, but fair enough. That is a useful bit of information...I remember learning on 2.62; that was a good version to learn on.

DSB Litra H2 - Wheels

I got the first version of the driver and couple wheels through the exporter intact (after eight tries and some shuffling and shifting of pivots) and I am happy with the result. As you might see there are some counter weights missing, but I have an entire afternoon to get them sorted out.

I have already pruned away some 8K worth of polys and can probably kill off another 2K or so before we have an in-game version . But so far I am happy.

Hi JB
Wonderful work as an old DSB man I love all your DSB creation like the H2
herlev

Something tells me this has a walschaerts. But then again Im not knowledgable about old trains like this.

Not quite. It's the earliest variant of Stevens which later became the second variant of Walschaerts. On the earliest variants, however, it's more like a Stephenson valve gear with a slight adjustment to run double valves.
