Hi all,
First time I have posted in this thread, some might say about time, some saying something else....

One of my latest projects, the British Battle Cruiser HMS Hood that met an untimely end in WWII

Still a lot to do, all the mainmast for a start which is conspicuous by be absent aft of the (at the moment) empty Boat Deck. The boats have been made, I have just been concentrating on the Bridge area and correcting some mistakes make there plus adding radars and other clutter.

The main deck is planked, hence the woody texture although that is not noticeable at this distance. This ship is over 850 feet long (262.3M) so is 200 feet (61.53M) longer than the US Iowa Class Battleships. Quite a hunk then!

Holy... Loving the New HMS Hood! Always did have a soft spot for her...so stately looking, yet never given the chance to really prove herself (I still think she could have survived her engagement with KMS Bismarck if she'd only been handled properly...and some extra armor wouldn't hurt)
Pity though, she was a very powerful warship, WWI-vintage or not. Rest in peace, you old warrior...

Indeed they are teddytoot. The model doesn't really show it, but it looks simply phenomenal after dark with the lights on and everything. It still runs at Blackpool as part of the heritage fleet with the Trawler and Battleship-themed trams.

Hi Sawyer811,
Yes, a very stately looking ship, although when it is possible to see the lower hull that is rather spoiled, below the waterline she was quite a lump.
Having made all my ships so far as complete entities I am rather tempted to take the lower hull off and leave her as a waterline model only, that would save quite a lot of polys and how often are ships seen as a whole, only if in dry dock and how often are these used and is the existing one on the DS long enough to accept such a large ship. In my Destroyer thread there is a shot of HMS Rodney, not made by me incidentally, I think by Marek_2 and very nice she looks, and she is waterline only.
So I put the question to you, waterline or whole? What do you think as an end user?

I wish I could finish something before starting on something else. Oh well.

Now this, I should really finish since I've been wanting an AC4400CW for AGES. Still a long way to go and hard to find the proper diagrams I need to finish it.

Angela, I'd stick to whole ships. A waterline only ship isn't a ship, it's sinking, because it has no hull and is only half of a ship!

Hi there,
I decided to make whole shops mainly because the lower hull, being antifoul red, is visible through Trainz water. Another reason is that a ship can be put into a dry dock if that is what is wanted, look a bit odd without any lower hul wouldn't it.... haha.

So full ships all the way.
