I wanted to keep the Community up to date on the progress of the DEM/Satellite project currently under way by our group.
I am also aware that Trainz 2009 hints that a similar feature may also become available as a standard. I think this is fantastic. It should be noted however, that many Trainz users are partial to a specific release in the series. A good example of this is the wide gap between Trainz 2004 and 2006 users.
Not that I am not excited to see development, but I (for one) am getting shy about forking-out big bucks for each new release of Trainz; especially when I was perfectly happy with 2006. I am more apt to wait and see what a release has to offer, and the reception by the Community before re-investing in Auran.
This attitude should be perceived as 'cautious' rather than 'angry', which it is not. But, I still want some of the features available in the new releases... like DEM's with satellite imagery.
I encourage everyone to read the announcement at The GAUX Dispatcher, with fresh eyes and an open mind. Try to remember that our group is in fact a member of the Trainz Community, and not an opponent. Our goal is to contribute to Trainz, and to further the great hobby in which we all share such passion.
