So, good news, after a reinstall and some tinkering with Norton, TRS2019 is no longer a crash-happy game.
However, that doesn't mean it works perfectly now.
In the past few days, I've been trying to use Surveyor, but after a couple of minutes, something peculiar happens. All of a sudden, the game locks up, and it's as if it needs to refresh the thumbnails on the train tab. Not only that, but every icon in the top bar is replaced by a grey box. Making it even more peculiar is that the only thing that doesn't freeze is particle effects like steam coming out of a locomotive.
Is this a bug related to autosaving? I tried to disable it, but I can't find any option for changing autosave settings. Was this removed in TRS2019? And yes, I've run several DBRs.
And if it isn't an autosave issue, is it a memory, antivirus, or content issue? The only route I've been using Surveyor on since this problem began is ZachmanAwesomeness' Island of Sodor Route (a route I've had alot of input on), which is being made in TS12 because Zach's computer is insufficient to run TRS2019. As a result, the route still has billboard trees with alpha texture issues.
By comparison, Driver works flawlessly, as I was running the Railfanning session on Coal Country with zero issues.
