For Auran: Latest Route/Layout Forum?!

I don't think you're being rude mate.
I like people who say what they think.

It was until the end of June, which I did manage. :hehe::D:D

I don't think I was being cynical just now though.
It's clear Tony wasn't exactly talking about the same thing as us in this thread, and although what he suggested is a good idea, it doesn't mean that a sub-forum for routes isn't still a good idea.
Seeing as he didn't mention a sub-forum while he was in this thread, I can only conclude that his presence in this thread was solely to promote TRS2009's wonderful browser capabilities. :p

Am I wrong?

Smiley.

You are utterly correct on both counts.

Sorry for dragging the thread off-topic.

Disturbnthapeace, are you sure you will get any sales? Do you have the relevant experience to produce content and are you sure anyone will trust you?

As much as I hate to say this, no one is going to part with any hard earned cash, unless they see what you are capable of producing and that you can show this and not copy anyone else's work. This sort of experience takes YEARS to develop, I know this, because I've gone through it all. It isn't easy, but the bounty is there for those that work hard for it. (Even then, the lure of money, just doesn't tempt me.)

The other problem, your posts and track record already, I can see, leaves a lot to be desired.

EDIT: Yes, I know it is irrelevant to the thread, maybe the 2 posts can be split from this thread and posted in another. I should know better, but I thought it was best to make my feelings on the subject of DTP's desire to create paying content, known. And I speak from experience.

Hmm.
While I admire you taking the opportunity to spread the word on the TRS2009 browser every chance you get :hehe:, I think people were talking about how useful it would be to have this sub-forum.

It would take 5 minutes to set up a sub-forum, and set all the relevant permissions, but I guess that you're not going to.

Oh well.

Smiley.

The samet hought crossed my mind...

I think having a forum area, specifically for presentation of routes (new AS WELL AS older), would be a grand idea. No discussions in it, strictly a "sticky" type forum, where you can present a route (once it IS on DLS), with description in detail, pictures etc, and be able to add updates to it (only one thread per route).

Having a forum like this, would also help people steer clear of the many "routes" that contain little more than a few tracks on an otherwise empty board.

Especially when one is new here, it IS difficult to look for more routes. DLS only gives so much information (if any) and only a tiny little picture, not enough to get an impression of whether one want to use that route or not. Going through the download process of x amount of routes, 90% of which you end up not wanting anyway, is very time consuming and daunting.

Going through the 1000's of pages in the "freeware announcement" forum is equally daunting. It's a great place to tell others what one is working on (or has finished) and to get input from others on that work, and it's fine to check into regularly to see what's new. But to look for routes, especially older ones, is rather difficult.

On the same token, having a forum somewhere else does not seem like the best of ideas. Again, where and how would one (especially a newbie) find that? The great thing about this forum is to have as much information gathered in one place as possible.

How about it, Tony, can we have such an area? It can't be that much trouble to make or maintain?
And/or how about having a poll about it first? That would give you an idea how big the need/interest is for this.

Sorry for the long post.

Many great points, but Auran, for whatever reason, just doesn't see a place to have a forum specifically for routes.... it does puzzled me because the end-result of everything we do is to make our routes public and for all to see....

I totally agreed with Smiley man comments, however!!
