Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland WIP

Congratulations on the culmination of one massive project Clam, the number of custom assets that you have created is staggering!

Having now driven from Port to Blaenau, and taken a "flying tour" of the WHR I can say this route is absolutely fantastic! Probably the best Trainz route I've ever used...

Thanks Guys....... With all the alterations going on this year actual and planned I think this is going to be an ongoing project!

For anyone trying this in T:ANE (may be better to wait until I get the T:ANE version fully sorted)

The following list of missing bits in T:ANE may help

- <KUID:169585:38265> Invisible Track Steveflanders, left on route in error.
- <KUID:370528:1216> n old Woman Walk not needed
- <KUID2:44700:27965:2> Large Metal Bucket - Narrowgauge as I can't even find it, not important.

********
- <KUID2:516852:1017:17> TS12 Builtin Ground Texture not in T:ANE
- <KUID2:516852:1025:25> TS12 Builtin Ground Texture not in T:ANE
- <KUID2:516852:1029:29> TS12 Builtin Ground Texture not in T:ANE
Not sure if these are really that critical one I used in a couple of places for lawns in gardens.

******
- <KUID2:523:1124:1> TS12 Builtin Missing Spline??? this keeps cropping up no idea why doesn't seem to affect anything.
- <KUID2:60850:24570:2> TS12 Builtin Sig UQ Home TC Cantilever 7ft LHS PLL - Payware in T:ANE as v 50 used it for the signal on the Heritage Railway
********
- <KUID2:86661:22401:1> TS12 Builtin - not used in T:ANE version presumably a glitch in the dependencies list as I haven't deleted anything between TS12 and T:ANE
- <KUID2:86661:22406:1> TS12 Builtin - Not used in T:ANE version as above

The above are slugsmasher clutter assets, not important probably from the same source as the missing bucket!

*********
- <KUID2:9999:27005:1> TS12 Builtin brick stack
- <KUID2:9999:937353:1> TS12 Builtin brick stack
Not really that important just used in a couple of building supply yards

*********
- <kuid:1987:39> TS12 Builtin A39 Ground Texture T:ANE Payware.
This could be as issue for non deluxe users as I think its used in one of the deluxe routes, may replace it in T:ANE with a very similar one of my own, now that replacing textures actually works in the T:ANE beta.

Fantastic route Clam runs really well in Tane a few missing bit here and there but works really well, the accuracy is fantastic i can tell instantly which each bit of the route is. I think that this could be used for route training it is that accurate so thank you very much for all the hard work you have put in it has paid off in buckets.
many thanks
Patrick

Simply sensational, Malc. What an amazing piece of craftsmanship. This is up there with the greatest routes ever created, you can see the effort that has gone into it was herculean. Thank you!

Many thanks
Pete

Malc,
Installed with only the following missing:
<kuid2:523:1149:1>
Any ideas? I mean, it should be something built-in, but I sure don't seem to have it.

Ignore it, it's the missing spline kuid which I bodged and upversioned to obsolete the builtin so you could actually replace missing splines in TS12, forgot to delete it, will be cleared when I get the update out, got to add the heritage signals which I hadn't done!

Simply wouderful, see my self playing with it a lot, taking 3 car green push pull on explore at moment

Many many thanks

Tom

Ps large metal bucket, goto trainzone logging scenery page and at bottom of page there is a cdp of clutter items

For some reason the webpage hosting the clutter items cdp file you mention appears in my browser as a page of html gobbledygook, so I can't get at that cdp file & it's bucket. That bucket is the only still-missing item, some other three items not on the DLS also being findable via the wonderful Trainzkuidindex.

Many thanks to Mr 1952 for this fine rendition of the route, very much better than previous attempts by other authors (although I did enjoy them too).

It's gratifying to hear that a T:ANE version with speedtreez is in the offing. Whilst those CL billboard trees are the best ever made for Trainz, I do like to see the wholly 3D versions waving their branches in the breeze. On the other hand, CL trees do tend to have much better variegated leaf colours. I don't suppose there'll ever be a TS12 version with speedtreez......? :-)

It's unfortunate that the Trainz animated passenger station assets don't work on sloping-track stations, even if those passengers do have a strange teleportation mode of getting on & off. I like to see the carriage doors wagging open & shut, you see. Is the sloping nature of the track also the reason for not having animated junctions? Some routes are so junction-heavy that putting in the animated versions would be a task of Sisyphus; but the WHR doesn't have that many junctions. I know most of the animated junction items are problematic to set up on anything but flat ground, though.

I'm looking forward to a session or two now. Do you intend, Mr 1952, to provide us with some sessions emulating the actual timetables and "consists" of the route? That would be very pleasing.

Thanks to Mr 1952 once more for a very fine route.

The html gobbledygook in the browser go File save page as and it defaults to cdp in the save dialogue!

Actually most of the missing stuff is un-important in T:ANE there are three TS12 builting ground textures missing that are not in T:ANE looks like I must have imported them at some point, the T:ANE version wont have these issues by the way as I replaced the missing textures and removed the bucket and clutter stuff and that missing spline mod I forgot to get rid of.

I literally spent weeks trying to get working platforms to work properly on the gradients, got permission of Andi06 to alter the invisible platforms made my own meshes with attachments more suitable for narrow platforms which sort of worked but went all haywire in TS12 SP1 and was taking too long to sort out!

I may well re-visit it in future as they are currently remodelling Minffordd Yard and also there are Plans for modifying Boston Lodge, clearance already under way and a New Station building at Caernarfon! Plus currently building an extension to Spooners at Porthmadog, So may well be a new version when they have finished all the building works!

There was a TS12 Speedtree version at one point unfortunately performance was abysmal with the DLS available stuff and was the reason I created all those Billboards! I had promissed DLS only a few years back so unfortunately pofigs were out of the equation

Can't see any difference in performance in T:ANE, latest Beta, between Billboards and Speed Trees.

If anyone currently using it in T:ANE finds the Billboards to bright and obvious looking you can do a direct swap for the TN versions of the trees which have been toned down for T:ANE.

I was wondering why there had been no screenshots posted since the release... then I discovered that I needed to download 2.3GB off the DLS. :hehe:

And I already had 2000 plus assets of the 4000 plus assets needed. Oh my!

Perhaps I'll be able to post some screenies in an hour or two although I'll probably want to download some rolling stock first.

Once im back at uni i plan to do some sessions on clams route but its not error free in tane yet, then theres sp1 to see how that affects everything thens theres new content from Ed and myself to think about. The i need to test if clam has got all the line speeds correct, so a real timetable could work.
many thanks
Patrick

Not put any temporary speed restrictions in Patrick, most of the speed limits came from an "official" source although it may be slightly out of date and I've probably missed something or got it wrong! Incidentally that varies from the FR Drivers Eye Video which is even older! Still isn't a full video for the other end. AI doesn't like that 5mph crossing just out of Caernarfon at Hendy in TS12 Or the 10 mph at Garnedd 49922 in TS12 49922. I've assumed that they still haven't got any 25mph line speed sections on the WHR and it's still all firmly at 20 Mph.

Rough test starting both routes at the same time from both ends, running AI they are more or less crossing at TyB and Rhyd Ddu.

With AI need to navigate via track marks at Minffordd otherwise it goes wrong line, can't use direction markers because of access to the mineral line.............. Every where else I've positioned direction markers located so you can still run round if required, thinking shuttles and such like.

Still sorting the T:ANE version or to be more correct swapping the trees for speed trees, missing bits are sorted.

Lataxe & Clam1952 If your using windows 10 the new browser won't work, I had to use chrome I had on the computer before update to get it.

Not knowing much about Wales and their railroads than what I've learned from the Constable Evens books (very nearly nothing at all except that they seem to like their sheep nearly as much as the Montanans do) I grabbed a randomly selected engine and a group of Early Victorian coaches and set out.

Very pretty. Very, very pretty although I suspect it would be much grayer and wetter in reality.
