Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland WIP

Hi,

Brilliant route, really enjoying it and most definitely worth the FCT without a shadow of a doubt. Many thanks for all the work you have put in.

I have been starting to create a session based on authentic the 2015 summertime timetables (2 FR trains, 2 WHR trains and 1 WHHR train) and want to ask about releasing it. Do I need permission to do so, and if so can I please had that permission.
I have been careful to keep everything on the session layer so a couple of trackmarks I have added should appear on everyone else's routes for that session, I believe. The main drawback is that I use the excellent 'Token management system' that comes with the Potteries Loop Line pack, without which this session will not function correctly.

Oh and to tdstead, you mentioned authentic consists. Edh6 has created 3 consists for each of the current Ffestiniog Railway coach formations:
"FR A set 2015" <kuid:403746:100174>
"FR B set 2015" <kuid:403746:100171>
"FR C set 2015" <kuid:403746:100170>

Thanks, Tim

To get proper consists A and C set should have Spares 1 and spares 2 coupled to the front. S1 is attached to the first train of the day (1010) and S2 to the third (1135), both of these are pulled by Fairlies, usually Merddin on the first and the Earl on the third, whilst the second train (1040) uses B Set without additional spares anf is usually hauled by Linda.

No need to ask permission for sessions or to release them, may want to hang on though until I get the small update uploaded for TS12 which will have to be late today or tomorrow as tied up with relatives all day.

Many thanks both.

Ed, could you specify which coaches the spares would normally be, or does it change frequently?
Malc, the session is not ready yet anyway so I don't think I'm in danger of releasing before the update.

Thanks, Tim

I have consists for the spares on the DLS: <kuid:403746:100172> FR Spares 1 2015; <kuid:403746:100173> FR Spares 2 2015.

If you would like any more information (eg which carriages/locomotives start at which sidings, what shunting goes on in the morning etc. then feel free to PM me and I can provide the info you require.

I said earlier that this route was pretty, very pretty, I misspoke. My God Sir, this route is glorious, magnificent, inspirational. I will not be posting any more screenshots as I think everyone should discover it for themselves. Thank you!

OK so I said I wasn't going to do any more screenshots but...

My goodness, look at all the locomotives for this little railroad and this isn't all by any means. There is a fairly large collection of rolling stock too. All a bit puzzling for a poor California boy, hopefully some sessions and some more consists will help me sort it out.

Believe it or not Norm, there are still some items of rolling stock and locos's for that railway that haven't been made yet!

Gads! I think I've gotten 1010, 1040, and 1035 sorted out so that is some sort of start.

I hope someone sorts out the passenger platform problems, it would greatly enhance the experience.

Edit: BTW pencil42's Generic Platforms allow some rolling to match slight gradients but they are unsuitable for this route.

Consists/locos are correct, but they are facing the wrong way! They should start at Porthmadog and head towards Blaenau, seperate trains hauled by south African garratts operate on the WHR section between Porthmadog and Caernarfon. (Consists for these trains will be on the DLS as soon as I finish building the required observation car).

To find out more visit www.festipedia.org.uk where there is information about all aspects of the line.

George Washington once advised the fledgling nation, "avoid foreign entanglements" and I have tried to do that with trainz. Since I have had all I can handle trying to understand my favorites, US wood burning steam locomotives, UP big steam, and US early electrics. But just as Congress and following Presidents promptly ignored this advice I'm afraid this route is going to draw me into foreign entanglements.

There, that should be better. I was wondering why there was such a track complex there. :)

A tip for those unfamiliar with the line, The Welsh Highland stock won't fit the loading gauge of the Ffestiniog and isn't allowed past Boston Lodge and definitely wont fit in Garnedd Tunnel, and would probably need repainting after going through some of the narrow cuttings however Ffestiniog stock will run on the WHR and frequently does, The WHR Heritage Railway is allowed very occasionally onto the WHR proper for test purposes, I won't bore you with the ongoing saga or the politics or the technical stuff that needs sorting before anything more develops, however this is Trainz............

Hehe, I can't figure out if you're talking about the railroad politics or the trainz politics Malc. I know I said no more screenshots but...

This was taken in 79947. I need to fine tune the environmentals but I could not resist seeing what the route looked like. So far, gorgeous!

One thing I really like is that most of the route has cameras but I'm going to need to set the process objects behind camera for this.

I can't believe I haven't posted on this thread yet!
This is an awesome looking route Clam, very, very well done. From the screenshots posted, it looks awfully close to the real thing. Unfortunately I think I'll have to wait until I have a better computer to run this one.

Slight update awaiting DLS approval. Corrected a cutting length, added a footpath that was missing behind Blaenau water tower and removed the florescent jacket people, as I am reliably informed by those who work on the line they don't wear them.

@ nathanmallard, yes I'm afraid it needs a pretty good system to run it, actually runs better in T:ANE.

Wow, turning on the Process Objects Behind Camera made a huge difference on this route in T:ANE SP1 public beta. Both in chase view and in the track camera views everything seems much smoother. I haven't checked the fps yet.

Consists for the WHR sets are now heading for the DLS alongside the required observation car. This year Garratt 87 was always used on E set and 138 on F set.
