Feather River Canyon

Hold it there mate. I think that you would be able to continue it for 2009 in TS12 so long as the build number isn't changed. This may also mean no speedtrees (not that that will be missed) and hopefully still TS2009 compatable. This is just my experience, but it may be different. I wouldn't get my hopes up (not becuase I have to) but myself and UPbigboy will see what we what we can do to have the route work in the earliest possible version of Trainz.

Cheers
Tim

hmm...I thought if you edited the route in TS12, it would automatically bump up the build number. but in any event, I'll wait and see. Good luck with whatever happens down the track.

Tim brings up a good point. I am not familiar with TS2012, but his theory may work (especially since there are no speedtrees and most of the content is pre-2009). Because of that, I probably could back date the near finished demo version once in TS2012. However, my real concern is that there is a ton more custom content needed to complete the full route (which I haven't made for TS2009 yet because I just haven't gotten that far). So, the full complete route will almost have to be in TS2012, unless there is a way to backdate all future content. As, Tim mentioned, we at PW are trying to make it and other content function in as many versions of Trainz as possible (that's the goal).

Just to be clear, I am not giving up the project...just postponing it 'till a new machine arrives. At that point, I will pick up project again and see what can happen about back dating.

@sawyer811: I will eventually finish the route, I just have to figure out how to back date to TS2009 from TS2012...although when I think about how much work it is to build, the route may be finished when TS2012 is out of date  (but hopefully it will be down sooner)

@SuperFudd: I don't know to be honest with ya'. I do know it's a number of reasons, but I don't know what is the major cause. All I can say is that:
1) TS2009 for some reason never ran as one would expect on my machine (probably because of reason 2).
2) the machine is tired (a few years past it's expected life and is far out of date to be running such programs such as TS2009)
3) It's had its fair share of parts replaced/updated and system re-installs to try to get the most life out it. (which in the process destroyed TS2006 for me, which I started out building in).
4) there is more that I don't know and can't figure out.

Everything is and has been kept clean so nothing would have a chance of being bogged down. The workstation is just far out dated, and building a detailed route (which the FRR originally wasn't, but I rebuilt again to have a fair amount of detail) was a struggle for the machine to work and load.

@SPSD40T2: There will be a beta version coming out soon (time permitting). As said before in the thread, I have had to convert all my projects and completed files to a new workstation, and update them for TS2012 (although I will do my best to backdate the beta and finished route for at least TS2009, but no promises). At the moment, all progress has halted on expansion, as the TS2012 import version rendered about half of the completed scenery missing. Given a month or two and I might have the scenery repaired / replaced and the Keddie beta released.....with a lot of luck that is.

Update 6/22

The revamp in TS2012. Things look a lot better in my perspective, and this is just the beginning.

...perhaps I should have waited for animation to be more clearly visible... :hehe: ...that just made my day though.

@sawyer811: Looking long term, the route will be lucky to be Trainz 2012 compatible (only saying this because it will take a while to finish). However, looking at the present, I don't see why the route can't work in Trainz 2009 or 2010 since I haven't used any 2012 only content (with the exception of one or two Speedtrees used as scrubs on the route, but are easily replaced). So at the moment, the answer would be "most likely."

Update 9/15

Been a couple months since I updated the thread (no the project is not dead).:Y:

In that time, I haven't had much time to expand the route (been busy reskinning content and redoing scenery a foot at a time to meet up to TS2012 details). I did, however, work a little around the station area and camp in Keddie, and reworked scenery as far as Paxton Siding. Updating and reworking is definitely no quick task even with bare min-detail, but here's where the line is at. Trees are missing in parts still, but since the post, areas have been filled with greenery.

A mallet thunders into west Keddie...
