FAILED To commit changes to asset KUID:XXXXXXXXX due to file access error.

I had this problem befor and I recieved several answers> I tried the answers and cleared up the problem to manageable errors. Today I started to download over thirty items from the download station. I let the program do its thing. About 5 hours later I checked the downloads and noticed that I had reached the 100mg download. OK. I looked at the install page and found only three items installed. Rhere were 27 reeor messages with the FAILED TO COMMIT message. Any ideas as to the cause or cure. I dont want to delete the program and reload it. The last time I did that it took over 4 days to get all items loaded back in.:(

I've had that error before, but couldn't find any answer for the reason. Try recommitting those assets again one at a time and see if that helps. Perhaps Content Manager was getting ahead of its self as it was committing the assets and downloading at the same time.

I have too. Generally I only notice them when starting Trainz from CM when I see all the committals occurring.

The file access error is probably a file sharing problem - i.e. some program is trying to open the file while another still has it locked for writing. Some programs only seem to try once and then complain.

Unless it continues with the same assets I wouldn't worry about it.

FAILED To commit changes error:
Is the kuid then, still open for edit?
Does the the kuid still show a error.
If so, what is the error?

I would make sure that you're running both Trainz and CM as administrator - and that you have "taken ownership" of your hard drive. I don't know if that would be the problem in Win8, but in Win7 it was for me.
