Extra Zoom in Surveyor

Hello all,

I'm running TS2009, and I'm wondering if there is a command line that I can insert into the config.txt file to let me zoom out furthur along the Z axis (vertical) in Surveyor? This would allow me a greater look and feel with how the layout's trackage is turning out. Any thoughts?

Cheers, Brent

You can edit the trainzoptions.txt file and add -surveyorfov=180 and save it. This will let max zoom up to show and entire 3 x 3 base board layout. That's 46,656 sq meters vs a single baseboard of 5184 sq meters. I think the default field of view in surveyor is 55, just like it is in driver.

Trainzoptions File

You can use any numeral you like...185 being about as far as you want to go, 130, 105, 55, 30...etc...any numeral...of your choice.

So... I added "-surveyorfov=100" in the trainz options file. This allowed me to zoom out further in surveyor, but now everything is distorted... why is that? Can I fix it?

The suggestion for using a large fov in surveyor was to provide a 'tempory' wide angle view of your route. Unforturately, when you zoom back in it gives a highly distorted view making it hard to place consists or objects in surveyor. For normal use you should remove.

-surveyorfov=35

I constantly change, and rechange my Trainzoptions File to: -surveyofov=35 for near normal view...and any numeral up to: -surveyorfov=185 for a super wide angle view.

The greater the number...the more distorted and fish-eyed view you get.

I could always emit the line completely, and re-add the line whenever I need a wide angle, distant view.
