Error in Trainz 2009 after installing sp 4

Hello everybody,

I have a Trainz 2009 version which I have updated to build 41844 ( sp 3).

This version was functioning.

I installed Sp4 ( going from 41844 to 44653 ) without warnings, started trainz.exe and received the screen with the several options ( start, options, content, etc ... ) but when clicking on start or content I received an error which says the following

Your computer hardware and or software is unable to communicate with trainz.
Ensure you have:

- Installed directx9 ( is installed )
Installed the latest drivers for your video card ( are installed )
Try both opengl or directx settings ( changed it, but didn't make any difference ).

Anyone has had the same error ? If you did what was your solution?

Hi,

I got this error too, so I went into Settings and disabled Shadows. Anyway, the squares added by PM2IM don't look good IMHO anyway.

Check that the settings in the Trainz Options box havent changed.

The update probably changed your graphics setting to Open GL in Options. You may just need to change it back to DirectX. I had this happen to me after an involuntary EDR.

No other options were changed in my Trainz2009 version. I disabled the shadows option and when clicking on start or content, the error no longer appeared.

I then enabled the shadows option back again, and the error did not appear again.
