Editing built in routes

Steam Rules OK
I find it a little Draconian that I am not able to edit a route I have paid for since the installation of SP1.

If this is the route NV3 are taking then I may think twice about downloading anymore of their content.

BIG BROTHER comes to mind.

Hi Shane

When I go into the route menu any route that is built in has the edit button greyed out. It only works on routes that I have created.

I tell a little lie.

It is only SnC (the one that I want to edit) that is greyed out. But I still find this annoying as I have paid NV3 good money for this and as such should be allowed to alter it if I wish as long as it is only for my use.

The inability to edit routes or sessions is the case for all DLC content. However, if you still have them in TS2009, TS2010, or an unpatched version of TS12, you can clone the routes or sessions and save them as cdp files then import them to TS12 SP1. I have done this with the SnC route so that I can correct the unconnected track leading to P1 and P2 at Carlisle.

Thanks for the tip and I'm glad to say I still have a copy on 2010 so I can do as you say. BUT I won't be buying anymore routes from NV3 if that is their future policy.

The issue you describe is likely a side effect of the new Packages system, which merge everything related to that DLC into one asset in Content Manager.

N3V will hopefully be able to confirm whether I am correct or not on that, but it's a likely thing (as I've noticed with the Contz pack).

I've just posted about this issue in another thread before I had spotted this one. I have to agree - tinkering is a big part of the enjoyment I derive from this sim as a hobby, and if we can't choose to do basic things such as alter enginespecs to more prototypical ones for ourselves then I too will be mch less inclined to buy N3V DLC - though I do understand the desire to control such products in terms of copy prevention etc.
