ECML-South layout by puffernutter

I found the layout ECML-South on the DLS and would like to download it, but in CMP it appears with a question mark and doesn't download. What does this mean, please? I was hoping it might include a model of Kings Cross station.
Thanks,
Mick Berg.

Hello Mick,

Don't forget that this route was created in 2003, so, there are no modern Trainz creations within it, such as specific stations. I'm unsure if anyone has ever built a Kings X station in replica, but, I stand corrected if that is not the case. However, It's a great layout and even better if you merge it with the other half done by hooverman called ECML Central on kuid:69768:99958296, which then gives you a fabulous straight ride from London up to Doncaster ( approx. 150 miles ) through all the stations and yards and towns in between, it's a personal project of mine to update it with all new trees, buildings, etc. Even though it's nearly 6 years old, it's a superb layout depicting the rural and township landscape of the East of England, and was beautifully created by 2 of the UK's finest route making Trainzers....

There weren't too many assets to download with either of the maps, can you give us an idea of what you are missing please.

It will have a ? while it searches to see what dependencies you already have for that route. When it finishes, which may take a little while, then the ? will disappear and the size parameter will be displayed and the status will show ready.

Thanks gentlemen. Maybe I wasn't missing anything, as the downloading process didn't even start before I gave up. I'll try again and be more patient. I was hoping for an accurate track layout and a model of King's Cross station. There's a good route of the line from KX to Hitchin for MSTS, including a model of KX station, but that doesn't do me much good! And BTW, the older the better for me!

Well gents, I downloaded the route, and would really like to get it working properly, but I am missing about 80 dependencies. Approx. 50 kuids <-1:100***>, approx. 10 kuids <-1:101***>, approx. 10 kuids <-12:3**> . Are these built-ins from pre-TC3 versions of Trainz? If so, how would I go about getting them? Then there are approx. 10, kuids <3801:210***>, and a few other assorted ones.

I'd appreciate some guidance as to where the above kuids might be hiding. I am using TC3. Also, are there any sessions for this route?

Thanks,
Mick Berg.

Hello again Mick,

No, there weren't any sessions for these routes, and as they were both created in Trainz Service Pack 3 from 2003, I would hazard a guess that all the assets you are missing are built-in stuff from TRS2004. If my memory serves me correctly kuids starting with 3801 were also built-in stuff by Bruce Kennewell. Have you attempted to transfer your .ja files from TRS2004 over to your TC3, that should do the trick.....

As I stated previously, because both of these routes were built so long ago, they only used the assets available in those days, which of course are quite outdated by today's offerings....However, the texturing and track was superb and both creators were reasonably accurate with their geographical portrayal of the towns along the way, I guess it was difficult in those days without DEM HOG assistance to get an exact mile for mile replica.

Good luck with getting the missing assets.

Hi.
I don't really want to add any more stuff to my already very bloated asset collection, so I think I'll leave things as they are. The ECML route is indeed very good, but I was hoping for more detail around Kings Cross, and that isn't there. The track layout is excellent, however.

BTW those interested in LNER suburban routes might like to have a look at the screenshots of my Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace route, on my website www.mickberg.com.

Thanks,
Mick Berg.
