Downloading speed is painfully slow at times

I don't have a FCT, but even without FCT, my download speed used to be faster on TANE. When downloading a locomotive, it starts at 11 KB before slowly decreasing to 4 or 5 KB and remains so. My local internet speed's quite high, but maybe it's due to my internet provider, router or the traffic in DLS? Maybe it's just me, but downloading on TANE used to be much quicker than on TRS19.

Since you do not have a FCT, the DL speeds are throttled down by design. I do suggest getting a FCT as they are worth the "bang for the buck," and you will see your DL speeds increase enough to realize that going without is crazy. As to why TANE and TRS19 have seemingly different rates by default is above my knowledge.

Your download speed will increase dramatically once you purchase an FCT. My current download speed is around 12.5 MEGAbytes per second. But then, I also have a gigabit fiber optic Internet.

When my FCT I had from buying the game ran out, I told myself I'd tough it out for a month and see if it was really that bad. At this point I had only experienced FCT Speeds.

I bought a FCT in a week and a half. 😂

I think we all tried to tough it out with the same results.

I've been toughing it out for quite a few months now, thanks to JR and RRmods as well as other third party content creators being so nice as to add all the dependencies needed for their items. But, that doesn't mean all of the content is this lucky. I still have times where I leave it overnight downloading. I am just cheap nowadays since things jumped up so much in price.

The last time I checked, it costing me .68c US per week for a FCT. ($35 US annually). Now if that's not good money for value, I don't know what is???

It takes atleast 5 to 10 times longer to download something from the DLS, without a FCT.

Happy Trainzing.

Cheers, Mac...

You didn't say that before. That would make sense in not justifying the cost if you only use it a few times a year. For those of us who beta test routes and Trainz versions, an FCT is a must.
Understandable. I was excited when T:ANE came out, testing it and such. I also feel the like the speed of downloads has decreased in the past year.

I understand the philosophy, and my six-month FCT just expired, but I do think the rate of a 36Baud modem would be a little more friendly.

I recall downloading the UMR for TS12 or TANE without a FCT. Took me 15 days back then, downloading a little over 100mb/day.
If you are not in a rush (and why would you; it is a train simulator), just let it download in the background while you do other stuff.
And yes, you can just play the game while Content Manager is downloading stuff. Or at least you can in TS12 and TANE; I am a few versions behind nowadays.

I was excited too until it was released. ;)

They have decreased but that could be due to the higher number of people downloading content.

Good evening
I too have a problem with the download with the CMP, here is a screen capture to support my statements, I specify that I have a first class tickets valid until March 2026, what does it pass?

There appears to be an issue today with the DLS.

Interestingly mine seem to start at 11 KB but only drop down to 8 or 9 KB however they do occasionally go down to 7 or 8 KB.
