Disneyland, California Adventure route (warning large # of pics)

Hey Nick,

Good to hear that you are doing fine these days!

I know what you mean about route developemt, in that we run out of interest, and then suddenly go back into it -- right now I am into Marsz! We are a small community, but it's fun, nonetheless, just being creative in creating objects! I even built a monorail system for Marzs too!

Have you had any issues running JFE cars in T12?

Have a good one Nick!

Thanks Ish,

No I have not experienced any real issues with JFE's trainsets in ts12, everything just seemed to work fine when I transfered it over from trs10,
even the reskins didn't have any issues. At this point I'm still dragging my feet with trying to learn another modeling program. Sketchup is pretty easy to
use, and thus far has been used to create a majority of the assets I have made so far, but I would like to optimize poly count and performance by modifying and skinning
these models in another rendering program first before importing into Trainz. Still not sure what program I want to go with.

cheers:wave:

Hi Nick,

Glad to hear about JFE's cars, and thier functionality in T12 -- Both cars work fine here too!!!

As for programs .... whatever feels confortable for you, etc .... I use 3dmax, and for all it's advance features and options I tend to keep it simple ... my advice basically is this, what do you want to accomplish?: indepth details, angles, and shapes, or simple rounded items and objects, etc ... after those answers are answered then you will find the right program!

Also, there's lots of tutorials on youtube these days -- I have learned a lot using 3dmax features from just follwing straight forward tutorials from you tube -- I'm sure there's tutorials for those other programs too!

Anyhow, I don't post all that much these days, but I'll keep an eye on this thread, etc ...

You take care now, and have a great summer, thus far!!!
Ishie

Boy, 3Dmax is pretty pricy... So you took the plunge for the full program then? I would be tempted too if it wasn't for the stiff price on the program. Problem is I'm dumping money like that into restoring a classic car not buying a program . I probably could justify 300-500, but its tough to let go of 3000 you know? Perhaps with time..... :o

Grass textures? You mean the base map? It really only a reference map for accuracy and placement. All the buildings are made with sketchup and exported with the new plugin recently released. Sktechup is pretty easy to model buildings in and works very well since it works along with google earth for proto builing scales. Very easy to model and export efficiently. I am still learning a more formal program in hopes of creating proto monorails though.

As for the trees, in reality they are a climbing plant or bush that encloses the support and on occasion they do get very close to the guard and beam.

cheers

How did you get the basemap to fit perfectly with the route? It's giving me too much trouble and so is google earth.

Hmmmm, been a while?

These look awesome!!!! Is there any way you could release these as a teaser?

Unfortunately no. The cars are not mine, nor do I have any rights to distribute them. They were very generously sent to me by their original creator as a gift and will probably remain private indefinately. As you can see though, they are WDW cars not Disneyland ones, so they are a bit irrelivant to this project. As for the status of the route, I do work on it here and there, but it has taken a back seat to my other Altamont Pass route due to upcoming events. I plan to work on my content creation skills a bit more before fully diving into the route once more (there is alot of custom content that needs to be made very accurately and in HD texures) so I want to be able to provide a high level of realism.

cheers

Eeeyup, its a big project... I unfortunately began undertaking the Disneyland park route a little too soon for my skill level, so now I am paying for it by having to have this thread die out while my skill level catchs up with my ambitions...

good luck!

Niartcar, can I help you with any thing? I'm creating some buildings of the disneyland route.
P.S. I know my English isn't perfect, but this is what you can learn at a spanish school.

Here are some pics of my Disneyland route

Disneyland entrance, with the train station. I know that the locomotive colours are not these, but I'm actually using it for another route.

Very interesting shots there! Its been a while since I have been able to run Trainz, but my new computer is finally finished and loaded, so prepare yourselves for me to get going again :D

cheers

Here are some more photos of my progress. Now I'm learning to model the interior of the train, which is as difficult as the front of the monorail. However, remember that the train isn't complete, and I have to improve it a lot.
