Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad

TC is pretty stable, unfortunately with TC, you don't get the legacy content that came with TRS2006, so downloading routes that were made in TRS2004 or 06 are missing a lot of content, mostly those kuid's that start with 1: and go upto 99:!

Yeah. And unless I can find a newer version of TRS2006, I pretty well HAVE to abandon it. It just plain don't work, sadly. Which is why I'm just making models at the moment. ;)

You mean CDP? And I have the route as a CDP, and all the assets so far in another CDP, so I'll be able to pick up wherever. Trust me, I've done TONS of archives already, but no, nothing will load. It locks up on the launch screen. So until I could possibly find another, newer copy of TRS2006 or update the route to newer standards, I'm at a standstill. But once I do get to work on it again, I think laying scenery will be a breeze...I'll have TONS of that!

Yea sorry CDP i dont know why I said CMP( Civilian Marksmanship Program? ) If you have it as a CDP, cant you just buy a newer trainz and then Install the route into it? I did that to 2 routes when I went from 06 to 09, i dont see why it couldnt work here.

Haha! Content Manager Plus? ;) It's possible. Is there any effect with the 10meter versus 5meter grid system?
warning: DONT NOT CHANGE THE GRID ON A FINISHED ROUTE IS MESSES UP THE TEXTURES BIG TIME.

No it shouldnt do anything to them
if the route in 10 meter. then it stays 10 meter.

If you are still in the building stage of the route, and if a certain area has a lot of little "Deformaties" or something, switching it to 5m can make a big difference. In a good way.

Edit: By building stage I mean Almost NO textures.

Yeah, I have only two or three small portions actually textured. Sadly, one of those areas is in great detail, but I can always find room for improvement. I'm glad there's hope. Sadly, I don't think I'd be able to backdate the route for 04/06 then, but the content will be backdated for sure.

I know as soon as I can afford it, I fully intend to go with TS2010, its just a matter of getting the pennies together at the moment, had a hard enough time just getting enough together to get me a download ticket only good for 3 months!

But it looks like you can go that way Hawkeye, and still maintain the quality of your work!

Tim,
TRS2006, any version will not run on 7--I've tried everything, including new video cards, with no luck--it just appears that 7 has relative bad OpenGL video drivers.

I'm dual booting XP to run Trainz at the moment.

And from my experience TS2010 has the same issues in 7 as TRS2006.

Well, I'd still use XP, except 64-bit XP is buggy as all get out, so Windows 7 it is. Which I have discovered Win 7 is VERY nice, but Trainz is the only pain. Oh well. This too shall pass. :p

Timothy

to be completely honest, I would dump windows 7.

Its been nothing but problems since I installed it on my laptop, and I don't run very many games, just one here and there. I don't dare try to run trainz.

Actually I'm running TC1&2 in Win7, my only problem so far has been when I over detail a route, then the game tends to crash, I was assuming thats because my video card is somewhat standard equipment, or that there is a bug in TC, which it also had while I was running it in XP.

Win7 for the most part has been pretty decent for me, and lets face it, its a darn site better than Vista ever was!

Klinger, I don't know what is with your machine, but I've used Windows 7 since I built mine, and it has been wonderful. Trainz has been the only hang up, sadly. I have been able to play any other game with no hangups in Windows 7...though I don't game much anymore.

I plan for it to be, though, being the Cumbres & Toltec, the main industries will be passengers, water, and coal from the coal tower in Chama and bunker in Antonito.
