CSX Derailment caught on video!

Those are some crazy videos. I find it hard to believe that the track in any of those 3 vids Cascade posted even support a train at all, much less the fact that they will attempt to use them in that condition. Very curious indeed, but also cool to watch. The video in the original post in this thread was also very interesting.

Every one knows that the switch should be flat not part flat completely flat!!
so that conductor was forgetting switch safety 101 if its part flat get it flat and DANG

The unknown....

 Ah...they do ride the ties occasionally....

The bad-track vids are all tangent track...the only force is down...the speed is low, so that any miss-step just stops the train, the assets are lifted, the track fixed, paid for.

They just don't budget for this stuff if it's suspected that the business may dry up...that's the Laissez-faire way of doing business, we call it "deferred maintenance."

The current queue(the CSX derailment), I notice the conductor did not lock the switch before he returned to his train...I never have seen this, especially when someone is taking a video of the scene...

But more than this, I am so amused that like graffiti, people wish the road to invest big-bucks to fix a problem they have already figured out...

Just the idea of a "www.csx-sucks.com" website is downright silly. Come on now--CSX is a railway, unlike PayPal! :p :hehe: :hehe:

Yes ... CSX ... Doo Stank :p a little bit :hehe:

There are a band of railfans (Yahoo Groups Altoona Johnstown) and they chase each and every train up and down, and over the mountain, taking redundant videos and photo's of dozens of "Trash Trains" (full of NYC Garbage) ... who would want to railfan a Grabage Train ? My GF took the train from the Altoona station, and a Trash Train (a Wreaker) had them trapped with nowhere to go ... people waiting for the train were barfing their brains out, waiting on the passenger platform ... "Clean Up ... Platform #4"... NS & CSX Doo Wreak ... a little bit ! :p

I was/am laughing my brains out at that, namely the part "people waiting for the train were barfing their brains out," [due to the rotting, stinking hot garbage  :hehe: ]. :hehe: :hehe:

Regards.

that switch should have been locked!

yeah after looking at the video, the conductor should have locked the switch after throwing it,before going back to the cab of the lead locomotive,I'm just glad that no railroad workers and others were hurt in this example of what not to do on the railroad!

Thats just beyond stupid, no sympathy at all 4 when the inevitable happens...
I couldn't imagine what it would be like being the driver and having to sleep at night knowing that someone was killed by your train.

Anyone seen this idiot?

Yep it's actually a rule that when you throw a switch it must always be lined & locked unless you're using it constantly for work in track & time (or other scenarios). Some railroads even make their employees point at the switch points and say "switch lined & locked" so that they make sure to visually see that there are no gaps in the switch points.
