Critical Update Issue - full of mulit-coloured rectangles on items after update

I was wondering if someone could shed some light on the following update issue. I'm stumped.
Using Trainz 2010 on a layout I have spend months on. Due to commitments I have not been near the program for 6 months so I decided to update. I used the download station using "Out of Date" and "True" etc and downloaded some 850Mb of updates. When returning to my layout many of the objects, stations, buildings etc were of a black colour with multi-coloured rectangles all over them. Big job to change everything.

I have noticed this multi-coloured rectangle issue in many items I have downloaded from the DLS, and always deleted the item and never pursued the problem. I thought it might be a TS12 issue.

I returned to an image file, my last backup when last used, and decided to update the impossible way from inside the program. The system now tells me I have 700 updates and when I go to the update listing page I am greeted with the "RED DOT" which indicates some fault somewhere and I get no listing of my updates so I can't update from there.

I'm just about ready to give up on this thing, so much time input to be greeted by these update issues.

Can anyone tell me what the multi coloured rectangles are, is there a fix, and is there any way I can update the system from here? Program won't work and DLS seems to download buggered items.

Help would be appreciated.

In order to help with the multicolour triangle issue, I need both a screenshot and your build version from the Launcher.

As for the other issue, do an extended database repair in Content Manager.

After re-reading the first post, I can tell you that the multicolour issue is a texture compression issue - a fix is available from the thread in my signature.

Am unable to supply screenshot of problem as the OS image file backup has replaced the problem update. The suggestion of the second replier seems promising, I will try that one first then download the updates again. I had already done the extended database repair without success.

I did all the repairs according to the tutorial, no further problem with textures. downloaded the updates via download helper and all seemingly went well until some several days later I went back into the game and the program states 30 updates but when I go to the update page no updates are listed, and I have the red dot in the corner listing problems. They look like programming/coding problems.

This showed up before when I had the 700 updates. Is there a way forward from here to remove this red dot and list the updates as normal. Would a re-install of the program fix the issue saving the user data and re-installing it?

Exit Trainz, go to the Userdata/cache/libraries folder, and delete everything there. Restart Trainz and try again.

The red dot issue can normally be resolved by running an extended database repair in Content Manager.
