Any further thoughts on what was mentioned above? I just rechecked this area for some reason. Similar conclusion. But I am constantly pinballing between projects, and want to figure out a way to make a well informed choice of a route, so that I can actually get something other way.
Not sure if there are folks in a similar boat. Hence why I asked.
I have various options:
A 50 km low class branchline with a 30km speed limit. Wanbi to Yinkanie. Appeal 2/10
A 220 km mainline with a large town at the end with multiple gauges. Adelaide to Pirie. 3/10
A 330km+ route from the same large town, with a few tricky points along the way. Will takes ages just to create the .kml for tracks for import/export via TransDEM. Pirie - Cockburn 4/10
A 106 km dead end branchline with a 30kph speed limit, and tight curves that made it unsuitable for standard track speed running. Karoonda - Peebinga 3/10
(Part of) a suburban network. Endless house/spline placements. Mainly Adelaide to Noarlunga, Gawler with a bit extra. 4.5/10
200km mainline from a prolific junction. Less towns. But monotonous, straight. Tailem Bend to Serviceton. 2.75/10
City to a place near the ocean out west. 220ish kms. About 120 - 200 custom buildings needed at least. Adelaide - Moonta 3/10
Fictional route from a junction to the end of a dog leg. About 230kms. Slightly less custom buildings. Around Bowmans or somewhere to Marion Bay vicinity. 2.5/10
Prolific 120-150km route in another state. Requires endless kml creation/research, plus heaps of custom buildings. But possibly more rewarding. Sydney/Hornsby - Newcastle. 4.5/10
Fictional route from about Yatina to Amyton or a bit further via foothills and Orroroo west. About 65kms. 4.25/10
Stirling North/Port Augusta to Tarcoola. 400kms through similar terrain mentioned above. 2.75/10
These are the standouts. No way would I want to attempt all of them. But it's a toss between achievability, level of difficulty, and whatever else. Typing this has made me exhausted.
