Creation question

Some time ago, I bought the third party creators disk from Auran and installed the Gmax files on my computer, and printed out the tutorial. Couldn't get anywhere. The tutorial never said anything about setting the heighth, width or depth of the object, nor where to find the textures. I finally gave up. Now, in the buildings section of the DLS I see comments about 'Content created on Google Sketchup, and transported to Trainz with rubyTmix.' Could somebody explain, in non-technical terms of course, what those are? Would they be easier to use than Gmax? Could it be I could finally be a contributer instead of just a taker? I really, really would like to contribute to the DLS.

It is some time since I uploaded content to the DLS but I think you have to agree that the content you are uploading is 'your' content. It could be argued that content that originated from Sketchup files and converted to Trainz is not content created by the uploader. Conversion is not Creation

[This facility allows you to upload Trainz Content you have created, /QUOTE]

I think this caution is repeated later in the upload process. In any case, what about the copyright of the originator, is that obtained before doing any conversion, it should be.

The creator of Ruby has stated his intent was for users to create their own content in Sketchup, and then get it into Trainz via his program. I don't think he anticipated the pillaging of the Sketchup Warehouse!
As it stands, that frenzy has seemed to have died off, and I know some creators, such as BobCass and Stationmistress have used Ruby as it was intended.
