CP 2816 in Trainz

You seem to be missing the point.

You need to stop and start from the beginning. Make a single box, texture it and export it and get it imported to the game. If you can't even do that, then you're just wasting your time with making a steam engine which is 10,000,000x more involved than a box.

Yes, Steve. :(

It's good that you are anxious to make steam engines, theres never enough for this game. But once you start building one, you learn REALLY quickly how much is involved. Theres alot more than just making shapes and saving it. You need to have attachment points named and placed correctly, textures have to be sized and mapped appropriately, and not to mention, the animation of the drivers will test anyones patience. The config file also need to be created and setup correctly. So a good way to get started it to make a basic item, like maybe a Grade Xing Sign. Just a basic X on a pole. It may seem tedious, but you'll be surprised how difficult it is to even just export that and get it working in the game. Once you get it, the steam engine will start to come together easier.

I know....

I will also create passenger cars, such as tool, baggage, mail, coach, diner, dome, sleeper, observation, and even lounge and theater cars!!

You are missing the point. Stop modeling so much. Make a box. Texture it. Put it ingame. Move on to say a house or a trailer. Then a car, then maybe, a steam engine.

I have to agree with everyone here. Misterb, you are getting far ahead of yourself. Start off simple and eventually you will get to building more complex models. I'd say try a house or something first then a passenger car. Also, progress screenshots might help with your projects.
Just my 2 cents

Never attempt a steam engine as your first thing. Start small. It takes dedicated time like 2 years to build decent locomotive. Here's a example of one of my current ones which is a hard one to do:

MisterB,

Depending on how good you are at gmax. Perhaps some of these tutorials can help.
If you haven't seen them already.

http://www.44090digitalmodels.co.uk/tutorials/gmax2.html

- very helpful page, but his content is British based. So is his primus locomotive tutorial.

http://web.archive.org/web/20101012112730/http://www.worldoftrainz.com/Pages/Tutorials.htm

- American based. The tutorials here are pretty straightforward though. These specific ones are also what kick-started a lot of modelers.

I may find more to post here.

Good news, everyone!

I have started a new project: The NS Office Car Special!

All the cars will be reskinned, and it will feature the "Buena Vista" theater car!!!

All posts will be on the following forum: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?89186-NS-Office-car-special

So you started a new project? What happened to this one? And the aux tender? and the the matching passenger car set?
You're Valentines Day release date came and went almost 2 weeks ago. I think you need to stop making up more projects when you haven't even learned how to make a box and export it yet.

I'm sorry, Steve.:(

I'm kinda new to Trainz, and I thought this was too much work to do. That's why I decided to cancel Project 2816.

I decided to do the NS Office Car Special because it's easier, and it will be reskinned.

Yours truly,

misterb11

P.S. For the NS Office Car Special, if you were wondering how I'll make the NS Buena Vista theater car, it'll be reskinned using a PRR Mountain View Observation.

P.P.S. You can take control of the project now. May I PM you my mesh?

How come you never thought on making your own CP 2816 Locomotive Steve? You can make the loco, the auxiliary tender, and its coaches.

Because its a stupid locomotive foamers are obsessed with. Personally. The only way I see it being properly made by anyone. Is by commission. Why dont you learn a modeling program so that you can build the loco, the aux tender and its coaches.

trainman7616,

You seriously are starting to annoy me now. Project 2816 has been cancelled and that is that.

I chose the NS Office Car Special since it's an easy project, not to be the first for Trainz.

Why is 2816 stupid? She is a beautiful engine, one of a class of 4-6-4s from which later variants were named after the one that was selected to carry Britain's Monarch. I would hardly call the engine stupid, but I am sure it draws a lot of attention (before EHH put it away in storage).

As much as I like the engine, it doesn't carry enough demand as the engines i've been working on. 90% of my items in the last year or so have been strictly custom commission work, and the rest have been items with many requests.

I haven't had too much free time to take on other stuff. I've been expanding the Canadian list with a large collection of CN engines, and there is a CP Selkirk coming next year also.

A Selkirk? You mean, the 2-10-4s, like this?

Also, you sure have some CN engines coming up, like 3254. As good as she goes, I wonder if it's better than the USLW edition.

Plus, when will 611 be released? How much will it cost? $6.11, or $12.00?

You do know that I made that 3254 on USLWs. I made it in 2005, so I think in the last 11 years, i've developed enough to make my newer one better than my older one.

Yes, that is the selkirk I am going to be making.

No idea on the 611 yet. Still haven't finished the set.
