CONTZ Pack - Standard Edition

The items showing in the content updates panel will only show as such if you have the original version installed. If the DLC system hasn't updated your access to that pack, then it will not yet be able to be downloaded. When the DLC system has been fully updated, you will receive access to the pack.

Sorry Zec wrong answer to the wrong problem.

The Original is shown as a built in TS12 kuid:276266.1197 Container yard basic this is a TS12 Built in. it is not purchased payware, check it please.

I have never purchased any Conts pack so why is it showing as an available update that you have to pay for or why was a payware item included in TS12?

There you go, Zec. That's what I was trying to get across to you. The original was built-in and the update is payware. Not very kosher, I'd say. In the US, we call that "Bait-and-switch".

I think that Ocemy started the whole ball rolling when he updated (instead of CREATING a new KUID) the 'CHN Container Yard Basic' (KUID 276266:1197 -which is built-in to TS2012). When he updated it with KUID2:276266:1197:1 he changed the name to 'CONTZ Pack - Standard Edition'. That made it a payware update to built-in content and a major whoops. If N3V wants to sell payware that's fine, but before allowing it to go on sale please make sure it isn't updating a piece of freeware.

Bill

Here's something interesting - for some reason, the CONTZ pack is no longer appearing on my Get Content screen. Could this be related?

Shane

Pretty sure it was ever never on that screen to start with, not all the DLC was or for that matter is now.

Narrowgauge kept the whole thing rolling when he made 'Northbay County' & it's sessions, made it in a build that 2010 could use, then followed it with updates that only TS12 could use, because CM3.3 could not download the updates.

If creators had 1 ounce of common sense, they would allocate a new kuid to an asset that was going to a higher build, because a new build means more than just an update, it means a new way of doing things, configs that don't match, new ways of doing textures, etc.

If TS12 is better than 2010, because the specs & definitions have moved the 'goalposts' & configs/meshes have to be different, then don't use a 2010 kuid number for a TS12 asset.

It's that bloody simple. If you can't figure that out, then you sure as hell should not be uploading content, FULL STOP.

What happened with Northbay County was that it got taken off the DLS for some reason and now the updates show as updates BUT you can't find them when you try to download them. Not quite the same, but definitely related.

I wholeheartedly agree that content 'updated' for a new version should have a completely new KUID.

I've got Vic Trainz (I think Zec's stuff (ZecRail 2012 Christmas Train Pack,Victorian Railways Type 1 DD Class Pack, & Victorian Railways Type 17 I Wagons Pack ) showing as well as Contz stuff which I don't own and no intention of getting. Is this normal?

What's the answer Zec, please?

Kev

You do get carried away.

Three iterations of Northbay exist, the original as it was made for TRS2006, the second was made by Mike (against the rules) and uploaded under his KUID, and the third is the current one which is Mikes version under my KUID. N3V were aware if the error and his uploads were removed from the DLS. From memory, all the assets were set for build 2.8. The sessions that he updated used assets that were only available in TS12 and I saw no reason to change them.

The reason for maintaining the original kuid with a new version number is to ensure that the updated versions can still be found by content that contains just the original non-kuid2 number. It is a very good system and it works all the time.

don't use a 2010 kuid number for a TS12 asset.

There is no such thing as a 2010 kuid. I don't understand what you are getting at.

You have two options, buy a copy of TRS2006 or buy TS12. If you like, I will email you cdps for the build 2.6 sessions and you can downgrade them or. if I can find them, the sessions for the original version. You would have to change any of the kuids that may have changed

Peter

An afterthought. I have never felt any compulsion to make any content to run in TRs2010. If it is an update it goes into build 2.8. If it is new it is made for TS12.

Good Morning All
Thank you all for reporting this issue, there was definitely a misunderstanding on the cause of this issue. Our team are aware of this, and we will be looking into a way to prevent the payware pack 'updates' from appearing in the Content Updates menu.

Oh, glad you posted here narrowgauge, is the newest update on the dls\cm for TS12 or SP1?

I refer to Northbay Country TS12 kuid2:44700:800045:6 which showed up on the CM on April 29, 2013.

Northbay Country TS12 kuid2:44700:800045:6 is OK for SP1HF2

All the dependencies are OK, no errors and a couple of warnings.

Sessions:-

Camp 2 Job kuid:86661:945381 has an error. One of the non-English words added by N3V is incorrectly spelled.
Gossen Ore Run kuid:86661:945347 is OK
Gossen Princess Ore Run kuid:44700:800001000 has a warning about build number.
Northbay County Coal Mine Run kuid:44700:8000464:1 has a faulty dependency. see below
Northbay County Gossen Coal Run kuid2:44700:800001008:1 OK

WS Crummy kuid:86661:15037 is the faulty one in the fourth session listed

Both the faulty ones are from Slugsmasher, I will contact him.

Peter

More on the Northbay subject.

The Camp 2 Job session is calling for a wrong asset that is not on the DLS. The session will need to be changed and the new asset uploaded.

The WS Crummy has been corrected and still has the same number as the one on the DLS.

Both these may be due to me fixing the errors but not sending the fixed files for Slugsmasher to upload.

Apart from this, Northbay is OK

Just a note on the CONTZ pack.

Now when i try to load the MP maps made by industrial it comes up with the missing assets fault. It tries to download the update which of course it cannot as they are payware so now these MP sessions that worked perfectly with TS12 +hotfixs 1 and 2 are also scrap.

We are running out of MP sessions that work so now even built in assets are no guarantee that a MP session will work.

Just an update, now it tries to download the update but guess what it has been removed from the DLS.

Between modified assets that will not revert for MP (thought this was suppose to be automatic), faulty assets that worked perfectly before the patches and updates that cripple MP sessions, looks like MP is fast becoming extinct, pity i did think it was a great idea.

Just another question, how many people are using MP with TS12 fully patched, excluding the default session, i have only seen one other map being used on a regular basis and that is the Thompson and Western with 2 people.

I am guilty of updating content for a new version.

I made my 1963 VW Beetle for TS2009 and TS2010. I found out soon after upload that TS12 required two more tags for enginesounds. I used 'Create New Version' to update the asset, and changed the build of the enginesound to 3.7, so it would be for TS12 only. I kept the original kuid as I wanted the update to be user-friendly, i.e. TS12 users wouldn't have to edit the asset to use the TS12 enginesound. Plus, I hope to make a Multiplayer-compatible route and session using the Beetle.

But the TS12 enginesound shows in TS2010 and is faulty in that version, basically showing what I'd like to call a 'false update'.

So, did I choose the right course of action or not?

Kieran.

@Railventure: I put the MP routes based on philskene's routes and their sessions in TS12 SP1 to have a go at playing, and there's no faulty or missing dependencies on the ones I tried: HarborMaster, KrashnBurne and IntenCity. I haven't seen any Multiplayer sessions on those routes either.

Peter,
The sessions that he updated used assets that were only available in TS12 and I saw no reason to change them

Therein lies the problem, Northbay & it's sessions are BUILT-IN to 2010, if the assets it's sessions uses are "only available in TS12" then
TS2010 can't download them, but CM insists that the updates are available, thus clogging up the system (along with others who have done the same).

If you can't see that, how do you see what's on your screen ?
I'm not the only one with this beef, others have also voiced the same opinion elsewhere on these forums.
