Hi all,
Around the time that CPS had the book thrown at them by the class 1's, I remembered seeing someone say that all the freeware links had been archived. Is this true, and if so, where are the downloads archived?

I must admit as not coming from Nth America, I did not understand any of that!
I was asking if anyone knew if the old Control Point Simulations content freeware downloads were archived, and if they were where I could find them. I remembered that someone had said the downloads had been archived.

@the Op > You're asking for links to an archive for stuff that's not rightfully yours to obtain?

See anything wrong there?

Just say'n!

I'm not asking for illegal links. I'm saying that I recall someone saying that the owner(s) of CPS had archived the freeware links so access could be maintained after the website was shut down. I was asking if this was true, and if so, where these could be found.

I think what might have been said is that the site may be available on the wayback machine of the Internet Archive. A lot of Trainz users use that method of accessing old sites that are gone now, and I don't think anyone has questioned the legality of it. USLW is one common one that comes to mind. At any rate, just doing a quick check, I did not find CPS on the wayback. If someone does, I think they are OK to post the link. There is a lot of precedent here.

I tried that, and it seems like I may have misinterpreted that post I saw before. The download links are still available, but the downloads are mediafire links that are encrypted. At least that was the case for the NS SD70 something or other rebuild. I’m still really disappointed that CPS is gone, I wish I had the money to get some of that stuff before it was gone.

Don't worry. Some of the stuff will soon appear on JointedRail.com.

The CPS freeware content was archived for about a month after CPS went south. However the remaining CPS members said that hosting the website wasn't feasible and is no longer around.
