Can someone tell me the very best features my computer can have for trainz. Don't tell me recommended or required settings!! ! It's become clear that the computer we have isn't suitable for my games and doesn't even have a graphics card. So it seems to me I need a gaming computer.

Three parts that are important cpu, graphics card, and ram

I suggest getting a icore3 3.2ghz computer for the lowest I would go, I have this and it runs very smooth. now graphics card, I would get at least a nvidia gtx460 it may cost 150.00 dollars but its worth it, I think to run the game great. Finally ram 4gigs is a great amount needed for trainz.

This will run all trainz even 12 very well

So What is wrong with mine

ATi Radeon 6970 2gig, P67A-UD3P-B3 Gigabyte motherboard, 8gig of DDR3 1300 memory and TS12 Runs crap jerks etc. Ive tried GL and Directx even taken my res down to basic. Must be something wrong with my set up but don't know what. All other Sims FSX. Flightgear, Total War run great ???? Stumped.

There are a bunch of things to try:

Update your video drivers to latest graphics drivers as well as download DirectX 9. Also update any system drivers. Now I admit I'm not that familiar with the specs of the AMD video card line, but I'm sure your card series is pretty up-to-date.

Disable any unncessary background tasks such as chat-notifiers, Skype (a big system hitter), video players, file-sharing downloaders, etc.

Try operating the program offline with your firewall and antimalware program disabled.

Disable Windows Search, which can make even the fastest i7 run like a DX2-50 '486!

Clean your system of old temp files and defrag your hard drive. Trainz reads a lot of data off the hard disk while it's working. Fragmented drives will cause a lot of pauses as the data is searched for on the drives.

Ensure your system fans are clean and your system has adaquate ventilation. Blow the old dust bunnies out. It doesn't hurt. A warm system will throttle back as it gets hot, and cause stuttering.

Check these things out and let us know how things go.
