cars and crossings

I just edited the Mojave Sub route for use and surprisingly it seems the grade crossings and traffic (on roads that don't indicate "no traffic") don't work/appear. What's going on? I didn't edit the configuration of the route only added rolling stock to the base route.

IIRC most (all?) of the Mojave crossings are ATLS so if you have created a new session you will need to set all the crossings up again from scratch. Now I think of it the YARN intersections will also have reverted to default settings. It is probably quicker and easier to edit an existing session than create a new one...

When you enter a route in surveyor go via the edit session and not edit route. Edit route only changes the map and creates a new session for that updated map. Edit session allows you to update the map and keep the original session and any session update that you have done. If you still have the old session open it for edit and look in the config file for map kuid and make sure it has the same kuid number as the map you are using.

okay, I really in all honesty have tried to get these crossing arms to work, all I want to do is take the base session, add some locos and stock, have the cars stop at grade crossings that work. I tried my best to understand the setup between controllers and triggers and this and that but good grief! Can anyone help me figure out what I need to do so that the crossing arms work on the route?

thanks.

This thread is the ATLS tutorial, it contains a link to a down loadable pdf.

The easiest way though is to load one of the supplied sessions, delete all the trains, save, then use that as a 'default' session to build new sessions from. I believe Joe included a 'blank' session with the route but N3V failed to see the wisdom of such an asset and left it out...

crossing

in surveyor,i did deleted all atls related crossing gates and its assets and replace with regular non atls crossing gates(any type),it's too complicated and confusing when set the program the atls and its assets. Then it may set the number for its functionality on crossing gate's property. it will works when in driver mode.

ATLS (Boat's) crossings

I used these on the second section of my WCL route. I don't think they were available when I was building the first section.
They are a little confusing and if you don't save the session the you will have to reset them all again next time you open the route.
I did a thread with pictures showing how to set them up and it should still be on here somewhere, but way back when the second section was released.
Using the pdf I was able to set them up and once you get the hang of it they work every time. The beauty is you can set the triggers some distance away from the crossing because in the UK the gates come down fairly early and there always seems to be a long wait before the train appears.
They are well worth getting going and if I can do it anybody should be able to.
